Empower Rune Weapon is a Frost death knight talent that allows the death knight to empower their rune weapon, increasing their haste and runic power generation. Frost death knights can take this talent twice to gain an extra charge.
Notes
- Curiously, this ability does not require a melee weapon, unlike its name suggests.
Patch changes
Patch 11.0.0 (2024-07-23): Removed from the class tree. Moved to row 6 in the Frost tree (was row 7). 
Patch 10.1.5 (2023-07-11): Haste bonus is now 33% effective in PvP combat. - Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 10 class talent and a row 7 Frost talent (was a level 48 Frost ability). Rank 2 removed.
Patch 9.0.2 (2020-11-17): Rank 2 added: Reduces cooldown by 15 seconds. - Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now learned at level 48 (was 57).
Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Cooldown decreased to 2 minutes (was 3). Redesigned: Empower your rune weapon, gaining 15% Haste and generating 1 Rune and 5 Runic Power instantly and every 5 sec for 20 sec.
- Old: Empower your rune weapon, immediately activating all your runes and generating 25 Runic Power.
- Old: Empower your rune weapon, immediately activating all your runes and generating 25 Runic Power.
Hotfix (2016-10-28): Both Empower Rune Weapon and Hungering Rune Weapon now have a 1 minute cooldown when the Overpowered Rune Weapon PvP talent is taken. - Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Now only available to Frost.
Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Added.
