Drek'Thar is the orc elder shaman of the Frostwolf clan that reside in Frostfire Ridge on Draenor. During a battle with a wolf, it bit him on his head and ruptured one eye, the second went blind afterwards.[1]
Following the massacre of the Frostwolf clan by the rest of the Horde, Drek'Thar's current location is unknown. Durotan noticed that his and Palkar's bodies were not among the dead, but was uncertain whether they had escaped or merely been taken to serve as fuel for the fel.[2] If they were taken prisoner, they may have been killed to fuel the opening of the Great Gate, or may still be alive.
History
Dying Draenor
Drek'Thar was present when Chieftain Garad refused Gul'dan's offer to join the Horde. Drek'Thar was disturbed by Gul'dan's presence and claimed that death followed him.[3] Sometime after Gul'dan left, Garad became increasingly ill. Drek'Thar could not discover why. Unknown to all, Gul'dan had secretly poisoned Garad with the ceremonial dagger giving to him at the end of the parlay. Garad died in battle against the Redwalker clan. After laying Garad to rest, Drek'Thar asked the spirits to bless their new chieftain Durotan. Although approving of him, both Drek'Thar and Durotan realized that something was off with the spirits.[4]
After their attack was repelled by the Frostwolves, the Redwalkers moved north. Through unknown means, they took their strength from the spirits, all the while anticipating that the Frostwolves would come to the spirits' aid. Drek'Thar and his fellow shaman were unable to hear the weakening spirits, resulting in the Frostwolf clan being caught off guard when the volcano near their home erupted. As the Frostwolves settled within a new area to call home, they were once again approached by Gul'dan. Drek'Thar praised Durotan for refusing Gul'dan's offer.[5]
Some time later, the spirits were able to get a message of sorts to Drek'Thar and Durotan. They lead a party north to aid the spirits, leaving leave Draka and Doomhammer in charge of the village. With Durotan and his war party gone, the opportunistic Redwalkers struck against the Frostwolves in order to wound them and use them as a food supply. Meanwhile, Drek'Thar was a vessel to speak with Geyah and both were stunned and horrified that the spirits were weak and would be no more. However, the spirits had enough energy for one last gift. While Durotan and the rest of the party rushed south to help save the clan, Drek'Thar remained behind to keep their dying frost wolves company.[6]
The Redwalkers were ultimately destroyed and Drek'Thar reunited with the rest of the clan, which marched to join the Horde under Durotan's orders.
Warcraft
When Durotan learned that only a small scouting party of the Horde's fittest warriors were to pass through the Great Gate, Drek'Thar was not included in the small list the chieftain decided on to accompany him to Azeroth. However, Draka asked him to reconsider, reminding him of how many times the shaman's visions had saved Frostwolf lives. After considering this Durotan relented, on the condition that Drek'Thar would not fight, only heal and advise.[7]
Durotan was concerned Drek'Thar would be discovered, and on the day of the portal's opening the shaman wore a hooded cloak pulled low to hide his white hair and covered eyes, with Palkar guiding him.[8] When the Frostwolf encampment was destroyed on Gul'dan's orders, Durotan couldn't find Drek'Thar, Palkar and their items, and was unsure whether they were taken as a fuel for fel or if they escaped.

It is speculated by fans that the unnamed orc portrayed below is Drek'Thar.
This elder orc's appearance fits the description of Drek'Thar in the official Warcraft film novel: "His hair almost completely white now, but his body still muscular, as straight and tall as the newcomer’s was stooped." He was attacked during the destruction of the Frostwolf camp. After some resistance, a horned skull was stabbed into his unprotected stomach. The injury caused him to vomit blood and left him defenseless, struck down by the attacker. He is expected to be killed on site or taken as fuel for fel, which matches the description in the novel.
