Daffodil is a faerie normally located in the Root Cellar of Ardenweald. Players help him compose a song about Gwynceirw, the Winter Wolf, on Marasmius's quest  [60 Daily] Into the Unknown.

Daffodil and Gwynceirw are also occasionally found up in the Shrouded Mire, where they fight a Rotbriar Boggart.

Oh, hello again! I could have sworn we've met before...

No matter, you're just in time. I am afraid I've stumbled upon a bit of writer's block, and I was wondering if you'd be willing to help me with a few lyrics. It's a song about my noble friend over there, and our recent battle against a most fearsome creature.

 How can I help?

Great! Here's the first verse:

We wound through the bogs

Pierced through the fogs

And there our quarry lay

... and I'm stuck. Any ideas?

I appreciate your dedication to the rhyme, but we were fighting a boggart. And while I often stretch the truth of things in my ballads, I think that might just be a bit too large of a leap, if you get my meaning.

<Daffodil throws you a very obvious wink.>

•  Sleeping by a log?

Well, that's not very dramatic, is it? Daffodil the Brave, stabbed the sleeping beast while it was having a snooze! No, no, that won't work. Hmm....

•  Its three maws agog?

Oooh, good word. It is often the duty of the humble minstrel to educate the listener, and vocabulary is a good start!

Wait, how did you know it had three mouths?

Anyway, here's the next verse:

Look, wishes are great and all, but I'm hoping for something a little more... substantial. Being a hero is hard work, you know. And hard work deserves compensation, if you get my meaning.

While that does paint a very amusing picture, I think everyone would prefer to keep their hands attached right where they are, thank you very much.

I like it! There's a call to action, and it reminds everyone that he's committed to keeping the peace. Let's try it it out. Now, for the big finale!

•  Oh valley of plenty?

Catchy, but a bit predictable. Besides, we don't really have that many valleys in Ardenweald. Fun fact!

•  Oh friend of humanity?

What's a humanity? Is that you? Are you a humanity? This song isn't for you, you know. It's to inspire the night fae all across Ardenweald--and particularly the ones right here--that we are heroes, worthy of praise, adulation, and compensation!

By the Queen, that's good! Are you sure you weren't a bard in your previous world?

<Daffodil takes a few moments to compose himself.>All right, I think I'm good to go. Ready to hear it?

• Daffodil says: I'd kick you awake if I wasn't completely convinced you'd kill me for it, you know.

Finally decided to stop snoozing and join in, hm?

Oh, you're not him. Well, maybe you'll be useful. Have you seen a horrible plant terror around here lately?

 Can't say I have. What's his deal?

Who, him? Don't mind him, he's just grumpy because he hasn't hunted his quarry yet. He's actually an amazing fighter, but his methods are... strange. Not that you heard me tell you any of that.

Not that he CAN HEAR ME WHILE HE'S NAPPING.

<Gwynceirw does not seem to react.>

 So what can you do about it?

Daffodil says: Oh, I'll tell you what I'm going to do! I'll find this thing on my own if I have to. And I'm going to compose a song while I do it! Here, how about this....

Daffodil says: Oh Daffodil, oh Daffodil, he's the best! Not like his partner, who only wants to REST!

Daffodil says: Leave it to Daffodil, the brilliant poet. Not that big oaf, everyone knows it!

Daffodil says: Where is the beast? Where could it be? If you won't help, then leave it to me!

Daffodil says: Have no fear, you crass buffoo-- eh? I, uh... Gwynceirw? I think I found something!

The Rotbriar Boggart appears.

Gwynceirw says: Wait, stop!

Daffodil says: Why? This doesn't seem so bad. Certainly not the creature we're looking for. I shall dispatch it quite handily. Observe!

The Rotbriar Boggart attacks!

Daffodil says: OH NO!

Gwynceirw says: Damn it, Daffodil....

Daffodil runs off to hide.

Gwynceirw says: Good work. Boggarts hate terrible sounds.

Daffodil says: Hah, I did do--wait, what?

Gwynceirw says: Appreciate the help back there. That was a nasty one, but you fought well.

Daffodil says: Hey, I helped too! Remember the terrible singing?

Gwynceirw says: Hmm. What's important is that it's dead. Let's get moving.

Daffodil says: Yes, let's go get our reward! How about a song to celebrate? Toss a seed to your hunter....

Gwynceirw says: Ugh.
