Curse (formerly Curse Gaming) was a large MMORPG gaming and community resource. It had news and articles, forums, in-game databases, and game-specific content for games — such as World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, and Warhammer Online. Wowpedia (former name of Warcraft Wiki) would be hosted by Curse in 2010 since the first split from Fandom (then Wikia).

In August 2016, Twitch announced that it would acquire Curse for an undisclosed amount.[1] On 12 December 2018, Fandom announced that they had acquired Curse Media from Twitch, leaving the rest of Curse operating under CurseForge with Twitch.[2][3] On 22 June 2020, Overwolf had acquired CurseForge.[4]

Curse Media

Curse Media was a department under Curse for the gaming websites such as Gamepedia and the Curse Network as well as others.

Gamepedia

Curse launched Gamepedia in December 2012 which was a wiki hosting platform dedicated to video games. It hosted a number of wikis, some of which were officially endorsed and supported by the game developers themselves. Wowpedia would be merged to the platform in July 2013 in order to unify logins with the rest of Curse and simplify maintenance workloads in the backend.

Overtime the platform grew with an increasing number of new wikis being created or others who forked to Gamepedia from where Wowpedia originated from as WoWWiki.

Curse Network

Curse Network consisted of high-traffic gaming websites which included some Warcraft related websites such as: MMO-Champion, WoWDB, and Hearthpwn. In 2019, Curse Network would be sold to Magic Find from Fandom.[5]
