Arcane Resilience is a Mage talent that increases the mage's armor by an amount relative to his intellect.
Mages wear cloth armor, which has a significantly lower armor value than other armor types. Mages have only one other way to increase armor, the spell 
[Ice Armor] (or [Frost Armor] for lower-level mages).

[Arcane Fortitude].
