Araj the Summoner, the former leader of the Scholomance,[1] was the ruler of the Ruins of Andorhal in the Western Plaguelands. He was one of the most powerful beings the Scourge called as its own.[2]

History

Warcraft III

At the service of the Lich King Ner'zhul during the Third War, Araj became the regional commander of the Scourge forces in the Western Plaguelands and commanded the Undead Ravagers to attack Hearthglen.[3]

Araj's Phylactery appears in place of his corpse.

It is known that he was the former leader of Scholomance before aiding the Scourge invasion of Caer Darrow and later claiming the city of Andorhal as his own.[1]

Headquartered in the ruined city of Andorhal, Araj had two primary responsibilities: spread the Plague of Undeath via massive Plague Cauldrons situated at various points throughout the Western Plaguelands, and continue to repel the Forsaken forces at the Bulwark and the Alliance forces at Chillwind Camp. He was ultimately defeated by the adventurers on the orders of Commander Ashlam Valorfist and High Executor Derrington,[4] while his scarab was used to create the key to enter the Scholomance.[5]

Cataclysm

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

Subsequent to the fall of the Lich King Arthas Menethil, Araj commanded the scattered remains of the Scourge forces still present at Andorhal. This persistence sealed his fate, however, and Araj was once again slain by adventurers seeking to conclude the long stalemate during the Battle for Andorhal. A shard from his phylactery was taken afterwards.[6]
