Ancient Hysteria was a pet ability unique to core hounds. It was identical to the bloodlust effects used by other classes; a raid would usually request a hunter to employ a core hound pet if it did not already have a class that could produce the effect.
Patch changes
Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Removed, but effectively replaced by
[Primal Rage].
Hotfix (2012-12-05): Fixed an issue that could prevent
[Bloodlust],
[Heroism], Ancient Hysteria, and
[Time Warp] from taking effect when cast simultaneously with another, similar, effect.
Hotfix (2012-10-12): Insanity is now cleared appropriately after an encounter ends.
Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Bloodlust, Heroism, Time Warp and Ancient Hysteria can no longer be cast while in Arenas.
Patch 4.0.3a (2010-11-23): The Core Hound pet ability Ancient Hysteria now places its own unique debuff (Insanity) on affected players that has the same effect as Sated and Exhaustion.
Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Added.
