You are Azeroth's true guardians and the future of this world is in your hands, for the dawning of the age of mortals has begun.”

Alexstrasza[1]

The Age of Mortals[2][3] (also spelled the age of mortals)[4] is the current period of events that unfolds after the death of Deathwing, the traitorous Dragon Aspect. The Age of Mortals was proclaimed by Alexstrasza after the ancient power of the Dragon Aspects expended at the end of the Cataclysm era.

It is now the charge of Azeroth's mortal races to safeguard their world themselves.[5]

The Age of Mortals and its consequences were touched upon in The Mists of Pandaria with the Keepers of Time reforming as the Timewalkers and enlisting mortals to help them police the timeways.[6] Major events that have taken place in the Age of Mortals include the Alliance-Horde war on Pandaria, the war in Draenor, the third invasion of the Burning Legion and the Fourth War.

Meanwhile, the elemental Thol'embaar stated that "Others will come... the age of mortals... has passed." when Deathwing re-emerged.

In the Warcraft III cinematic "Eternity's End," Medivh implies that a similar concept began with the conclusion of the Battle of Mount Hyjal.
