Veteran of the Shifting Sands is a Feat of Strength achievement granted for completing the quests leading up to the opening of the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj.
General Information
This achievement is designed to reward those who went through the trouble of completing the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest chain but did not necessarily get to complete [60] Bang a Gong!, the quest which awarded the title of 
[Scarab Lord] and associated mount. It will also be granted to players who did receive the title and mount.
In patch 4.0.3a, the quest chain is no longer available due to a complete overhaul of all Azeroth quests for the Shattering.
