Possessive after a name

Hello. I am not a native english speaker but I am slightly confused by the latest edits around Arthas and Sylvanas. I thought that, in english, if a name finished with an "s", there was no need to add "'s" after it to show possession, only an "'" Am I missing something? Xporc (talk) 08:16, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

It's not 100% a hard and fast rule, and to some degree is a stylistic choice. Some people drop the "'s" after any word ending in s, some people only drop it after words that end in s in which you would not pronounce the "'s" (for instance, "Arthas's hat" vs. "Jeeves' boots").
