Consortium Reputation Spanbar

Hi, Don't quite understand why you insist it's wrong to "fix" this spanbar, since you clearly can't do the Heroics until revered anyway.
Also, every other faction page represents this truth, just not the Consortium one (which you changed back to Heroic spanning from Honored through Exalted).
May I ask for a clarification here, because I really don't get why you did that :)

~Feenyx

Because you don't get the key from the Consortium, so revered with them is not required. We've fixed that many many many times, and I just got sick of fixing it. User:Tekkub/Sig 03:18, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

BC healing equipment/Neck summary

I have to say I'm not very keen on the new format you have implemented on the above page. It makes it harder to compare the items. Timb0h 00:17, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Elinks comment

I saw that you are the one to add the request for the elinks message. Why the need for it? And... you do realize that it is unmaintainable, don't you? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:09, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Because every new person that comes along doesn't read Project:EL. We need SOMETHING that points them there. It's became a major PITA to keep fixing people's links that don't read the policy, so I want something that I can point at and say "you didn't read the big warning" when I erase their shit... I'm basically done fixing bad links. User:Tekkub/Sig 22:12, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Nothing is unmaintainable when you have bots :) Kirkburn  talk  contr 22:16, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
I notice that your edits are largely cleaning up after the addition of raidguru elink adds, on Boss pages. I assume you are aware, though, that your request includes item and recipe pages? I had not known of your elinks issue because the malformed links don't tend to occupy the pages I most frequent. Seeing how often you've been changing elinks, though, I see why you might be unhappy with them. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:48, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I am aware that it encompasses the mass majority of the wiki's pages. That's the point. While the raid pages are the most likely to get links, there's still a chance that say, someone opens a new DB site (gee that never happens) and decides to run a bot to add their links to all those pages... I don't feel right acting against those people when they've not read Project:EL, and they shouldn't be pointed there only after they fuck up dozens of pages. We need something in place that they should see BEFORE they go adding elinks. User:Tekkub/Sig 19:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Lady Vashj (Tactics) - Dead Videos?

I guess it's up to you to decide whether they are dead, then - the free links are down, at least. --BobClown (talk) 02:49, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Why was my external link removed?

hi, The link to the Rogue leveling guide I wrote which I listed on the rogue page contained useful info for readers. I've looked through the External link policy many times and my guide was well within the boundaries set. That link provided me with a lot of traffic for my Guide website and the visitors obviously gained from my content as indicated by the average visit lasting 5 mins 35seconds. You can find the guide here http://www.elitewowguides.com/RogueLevelingGuide.html Please get back to me on my talk page,

Thanks, Bentt

Use {{elink}}, as the page says. User:Tekkub/Sig 18:22, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Me and some others on #wowwiki had the impression your page is highly focused on selling guides and the "guide" sections are mostly so minor that we don't see a link on various pages justified. http://images.wikia.com/wowwiki/images/5/5a/TrainerGossipIcon.png Armagone (User_talk:Armagone Special:Contributions/Armagone 18:36, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Elinks to Guides

Hi Tekkub, I noticed that you removed the elinks I created to my web site's guides on the Nexus and Instructor Razuvious. May I ask why and what I can do to add links that will not be removed? I read Project:EL first and conformed with policy as far as I understand. My site has been around since TBC, had published guides on many bosses, and is not a spam site (in fact our content includes very little advertising). We think it is a valuable endgame resource for WoW players. Thanks! --Letoii

Templates

With the exception of artifact, the other templates were not in the deletion history, so I'm not sure why you are saying they were. However, I created it (as well as the others) so we have something like friendly, exalted, etc only for items. If you insist on deleting it, please fix the pages which are now broken. -Howbizr (talk) 08:24, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

No pages are broken, standard practice is to check "What links here" before deleting pages. TeжubԎ Ҩ Ѡ 08:29, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

What's wrong with this link?

You sited Project:EL but after reading that and Project:DNP, I didn't see anything offensive. Looked like a normal leveling guide - it doesn't seem to have exploits or unreleased content or other breaches of contract. Jame's Leveling Guide into Tour Guide

Hi Tekkub! I used to be pretty active with WoWWiki but have since been helping Jame (of Jame's leveling guides) out with his website. We are trying to put his guides into addon format. I was told by someone that you are the developer for Tourguide. We are interested in using it for his guides, but we wanted to make sure that would be okay and also that we could change things within it if we needed to, as long as we gave originally credit for it's development to you.

I'll check back here, just let me know what's up when you get the time :) --Jiyambi t || c 22:28, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

You don't need to change anything. Make your own addon with your guides in it and have it require TG. Look at the guides included with the addon, they can be pulled out into standalone addons. User:Tekkub/Sig 22:32, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
That's what we have done thus far. However I think Jame's concern in using TourGuide is that if for some reason we wanted to change something in it's interface, we would have to get it okayed by you, or we might not be able to change something if we wanted to. We have another user developing a custom addon not dependant on TourGuide to solve that problem, but some of us prefer the TourGuide version. Basically, if we did for some unknown reason want to change something within TourGuide only for use with our guide, would that be acceptable as long as we noted that you were the original author? --Jiyambi t || c 22:55, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
http://code.google.com/p/tekkub-wow/ In short, you fuck with it, find a new name for it. Or you could always just fork on github and submit your changes. No guarantee I'll accept them though, I feel TG's core is basically done, nothing needs to be added to it. User:Tekkub/Sig 22:59, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Sounds fair enough. I really don't think we'll need to change anything (it works great!), just covering for the eventuality since putting all of Jame's guides into TourGuide form may take some time and effort. Thanks very much for the info, and also for making so many great addons! --Jiyambi t || c 23:16, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Reputation template

thanks for the reputation template fix :) Loremaster A'noob, Arch Druid of the Noobhoof Clan (talk) 17:27, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Instance attunement/template usage

Thanks for the dismissive comment. I do read template documentation. But not for every template I use, so sorry. Maybe you should force users to sign some kind of EULA that they will read the documentation of every template they use before you allow them to contribute to WoWwiki. For this template in particular, every user should be forced to read the documentation before they are redirected to the page they want to see. Else they will never know that the notes in italic fonts are supposed to point to undocumented changes. especially since the template links to the standard patch changes page. Reeina (talk) 12:05, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

will do!

I'm on it. Will try to respond tomorrow. Thanks Gil (talk)<staff /> 06:16, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Why I liked the references

I prefer them simply because I don't trust that forums/bluenote-aggregators actually stick around for very long. There are so many red links to forums on the wiki, and it's frustrating because you can never figure out what the reference was from a link alone.

I certainly wouldn't criticize anyone for using {{patched|<link>}}, but I still (personally) think {{ref web}} gives more information. And references just get stuck at the bottom of the article - they certainly aren't cluttering the patch section with the little "[1]".

Just my 2 cents. -Howbizr (talk) 21:05, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Hmm... is my paranoia about preserving data ... catching? ... good, ... good... --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:29, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Catching? Nah I think we just think alike.. And you know what they say about like minds... -Howbizr (talk) 22:19, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm fine with keeping our own mirror of the hotfix post. I just don't want those huge notes in the patched sections of pages... they need to be truncated and paraphrased down to just the change related to the item. You should still use the link= param, but you could just point it at our own mirror of the post, and put the ref on that page. User:Tekkub/Sig 22:22, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Fine by me. If you have more time to pear down that one large blue post about stealth detection, by all means. I just don't know when I'll have time. I'm trying to focus on keeping up with all the hotfixes period. -Howbizr (talk) 22:31, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I got a few of them, then the DB was locked and I got distracted by something shiney and/or furry. User:Tekkub/Sig 22:35, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Freedom of information on reasons for policies / DNP policy in specific

Hi, found you via Special:Listusers/sysop, I am new here but not new to wikis :)

I would be interested in hearing any feedback admins have to this: Project talk:DNP_policy#Reasons_for_policies.3F (figured it's probably not a page that is read/used much so I'm messaging you all, I couldn't find a noticeboard page though I found what looks like a rather out-of-date list of admins hehe) --Kittymew (talk) 14:39, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Would like to interview you

Hi Tekkub,

I’m continuing my research (on WoWWiki and WoWPedia) this summer and hope to interview several of the core contributors about their experiences. Would you be available for an interview at some point this summer?

I also wanted to share an article of mine about WoWWiki that was recently published; you can find it linked to from my user page (happy to send you pdf, if you like). For the most part it talks about the writing processes of the community and how members work well together because of shared attitudes and beliefs about writing on a wiki. If you have any questions or feedback, I’d love to hear it.

Thanks for considering this. If you're interested in participating, you can contact me here via email <tinyurl [dot] com/5ug7gqq>. Dakhma (talk) 15:32, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
