Bookkeepers (Pre-emptive Retcon task force)

Your Head Bookkeeper (ie, me) would like to remind you that any lore-shattering developments should be reported immediately, so I can secure the appropriate pages. I will NOT allow a repeat of the E3 Dranei Crisis. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 20:09, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Um, Dalaran is moving to Northrend. That bad? User:Kirkburn/Sig3 05:39, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Not a retcon. plot twist. Slightly "out there" plot twist, as it implies that Malygos is still mad, but still. Floating city that looks like Istanbul made of amethyst... nope, can't see getting mad at blizzard for that one. Addendum: However, if they make Malygos killable, I think I'll have reached the end of my rope.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 13:39, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
No, Malygos wasn't suggested as killable as far as I remember. Red dragons + Alextrazsa will be helping to sort him out. I gotta spend some time seeing what is on the wiki as what isn't >< User:Kirkburn/Sig3 21:04, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

its nice to know that rhonin might be the newly appointed leader of the Kirin Tor. He well deserved it. Finally the Knights of the Silver Hand is now controlled by Tirion Fordring who well deserved that as well. Barthilas made me so mad. Great to see him perish the way he did. I for one believe that Tirion will help the raid group fight the Lich King, and at the end either Arthas flees and drops a box or Tirion gives him the killing blow with ashbringer. I really dont think that malygos will be killable. Doubt alexstrasza would allow it. Another note, wow has been out for over 3 years now, dont you think people should age in game, such as anduin wrynn. I know he's just a boy, but he cant stay a boy forever. He will soon be old enough or mature to take the crown and show his face right? think about it. User:Wired/sig18:37, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Why ? BLOCKED?

WoWWiki development memories

I'm trying to remember now how none of us were admins at the time, yet we developed WoWWiki to give it structure and all we needed is an admin to check it off and "officialize" it. lol. I've never been a part of any other project with a similar capacity, and I'm not sure I ever will be again. I'll still be around intermittently, but I just wanted to maybe remind you of the good old days when we had to viciously combat spammers and more mildly correct the more innocent vices that people tend to have at times. As much as I don't want to go back to that time, I will probably always remember it fondly, and certainly with pride however misguided. Schmidt 02:40, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Question regarding naming policy

I read the naming policy, and i don't see what i did wrong. I found this...

  • Any wiki contributor can move personal articles to the author's sub-page.
  • Authors can move them back if they wish to surrender control over the page. Make a note on the talk page that this is indeed the case so it does not get moved again.

It doesn't matter to me if people edit it, in fact, i want it to be like that so my guildmates or even the community can add their own stories. That was the whole point. It also kills the roleplay type vibe when you see the big USER:ZUMESTER/Zima Stonehammer

Front page dev

Howdy. Just dropping in to suggest two things. On my Firefox 1024, the Official Sites section is looking really crammed. Could we link the words to the website and then parens (forums)? Also, the advert that sometimes shows up on the right, could we center that in the box so it's a little more sexy?

I'll be getting off of work soon for an extended period of time, so maybe I can get back into regular editing. Peace, grease!--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 21:40, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Good idea! Done :) As for centering the advert, will mention it to the ad people. Can't really do it manually, as that would force the articles like playxpert to center as well.

Ohnoes' Claims

Ohnoes, or TotalBiscuit, claims that Punchline's FEW SENTENCES were inaccurate posts on his personal WoWWiki entry. However, it was 'Ohnoes' posts that were extremely inaccurate and not at all factual. Just letting you know..--Punchline

If that was indeed TB, I am disappointed in him. To be honest, I don't care as much about whether the information is accurate, but that slander and harassment isn't encouraged. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 21:38, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Slander (it's actually libel btw, it's written) has the absolute defense of truth, which is exactly what that information is. The fact of the matter is that Punchline has a history of causing drama, and deliberately stirring up trouble, as well as theft of intellectual property from other members of the community. He is a menace, not the e-cowboy he makes himself out to be. Ohnoes 22:31, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I understand, but this is still not the place to be playing out the drama. I'm all for keeping the WoW Radio article unbiased, so long as fights do not start anywhere on the wiki. Edit: damn, it is 'libel', not 'slander'. Not sure why I didn't notice when I wrote that! >_< User:Kirkburn/Sig3 22:34, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

No problem, I'll back off. My interest is solely in ensuring that the community is not further damaged by Punchline's previously malicious behavior, and that he does not attempt to simply pretend that it never happened Ohnoes 22:38, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

... TB, how can you call me a thief of intellectual property? Punchline 16:15, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Wowwikis "In other languages"

Dear Kirkburn,

In other languages
Deutsch
Español
Français
Magyar
Italiano
日本語
한국어
Nederlands
Norsk (bokmål) <-----
Polski
Русский
Slovenčina
中文
‪中文(台灣)

The In-other-languages-list on the main page states that the Norwegian Wowwiki is using bokmål, "booktongue". However, we are using riksmål, so I was wondering if you could change it?

PS: I don't know if I will discuss this here. Adys informed me that he just “keeps me around” because he thinks I am entertaining. After taking into consideration his actions against me and the unpleasant incident on the IRC channel, I no longer feel that there is a prospect of a relationship based on mutual friendship and respect between Adys and me, which makes my efforts at Wowwiki futile. I would like to thank you for your understanding, and for the help you have offered me. Bear in mind that I will always visit your page from time to time, even if I won't involve myself directly in the Wiki’s work. Keep up the good work ;)

Best wishes

Voluspå

I can't find an option for that :( I think the no: link is by default bokmål. I can't really help further, but I would suggest visiting the #wikia channel and asking on there. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 22:58, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Kirk, I've got some new CSS up on User:DuTempete/wowwiki.css and User:DuTempete/monobook.css. If you get the chance, this weekend, would you take a look? I added a hover bg change to darktable, and the nohover class as well. I've also put some CSS in for the colored tables like the one on Race. You can look at a model table I made at User:DuTempete/sandbox.

CSS addition

Kirk, I'm following up what I mentioned on IRC. There is a yellow text used in-game on tooltips, for instance the flavor text on items, and debuffs, spells and talents. That color is hardcoded in a lot of places, and looks bad on monobook or other white backgrounds, so a class CSS would be helpful. The value is #FD0 --Piu (?!) 19:43, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Argument

Hi there! I'm afraid I have a little argument with Baggins right now, concerning the recent changes he made to several articles concerning the Scarlet Crusade, and it seems like we won't be able to solve this without other opinions. Usually I wouldn't bother you with something like that, but the Scarlet Crusade articles really mean a lot to me, and although I'm a big fan of the same sources he is using, I am under the impression the article's quality has been seriously hurt. :/ Maybe you can take a look and state your opinion if you think the changes he made are correct or not? WoW Radio page

It is not acceptable for those who left under negative circumstances (ie. those that were fired) to advertise competitor links, especially those who took WoW Radio brand-name shows without WoW Radio's consent, on our Wiki-page. We reserve the right to remove them, it's not their page, and their reasons for leaving have absolutely no relevance, and are quite frequently misrepresented. If we cannot keep our WoW Radio page for WoW Radio shows only, then I will simply nuke the entire page. I'm sick to high heaven of other podcasts attempting to profit off of our hard-work. It's an epidemic that's happening all over the place and it needs to stop, NOW. User:Ohnoes 8th October 2007.

Death blow

I know that the strike was described as cowardly in the novel, but I took it out because it's still a biased viewpoint from only a few characters. Characters praise and attack certain actions all the time, but I don't usually see personal in-universe viewpoints included in articles. When I do, it's specifically stated and cited that it's thought by certain characters or factions. Since its inclusion adds little, if anything to the artile, I would like a specific justification for keeping it in.--Austin P 13:30, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Greymane Wall

Why remove that? It was taken with Eagle Eye by standing at the gate it's hardly any sort of exploit. Change it back please, it's part of WoW so people should be allowed to see what is behind the wall.

Also right, you won't accept pictures which any lvl hunter who has Eagle Eye can take in a few seconds yet you would accept a line like this 'With the help of an epic mount and a bit of time, the other side of Greymane wall can be accessed on a live server without exploitation.' which hints to people there's a way into a place your not meant to be in? Explain that please.

Please think before you delete things. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Darkodium (talk · contr).

I noticed the repeatable quest bars in all the reputation tables are broken (e.g. Thrallmar#Reputation, Sporeggar#Reputation).
