Mate, I am trying to bring the forums to life by getting a few of my closer wowwiki friends to register and post. I don't care what you post, so long as you just post some stuff reguarly and get a few conversations going to incite other members to register and join in. I already got schmidt in, along with hammersmith - could you register a.s.a.p.? Thankshoe mucho hehe! -- ℑilver§ℑide 20:45, 2 Jan 2006 (EST)
Vandals
Check this out: Project talk:Known_vandals , in the bottom. CJ 08:39, 17 March 2006 (EST)
Hello Fan, just shooting you this 'Redhook' spammer. If you can ban him whenever :). (You can delete the post, just wanted you to notice it). --Cartier 21:15, 21 March 2006 (EST)
- Blocked. --Fandyllic 7:24 PM PST 21 Mar 2006
Dear Fandyllic,
I don't know how anything on this site works, let alone how to send a message. So I guess I am reporting myself as a vandal in this section (for using this section for something it's not intended?) in addition to asking, A) How do you send messages? B) If my latest contribution (prior to this vandalous contribution) "isn't so bad", how come it got deleted? :( [Update: I guess it is back? I don't know what's going on! The internet, it offends my delicate sensibilities!] Anyways, sorry for being a wiki noob, and sorry for vandalizing whatever section of the wiki this is. Hope you get back to me soon!? [Update again!?: Someone deleted the frumple post AGAIN, why are they so spiteful? I don't understand what is happening! 2:46 PM PST 29 Mar 2006]
Sincerely, Fandyllicisameanie. (But I guess you already knew that with your crazy admin powers?)
- Despite my crazy admin powers, I can't track all changes. Perhaps the person who is deleting your Frumple post is the person behind Frumple and doesn't like it?
- Sending messages is just adding somehting to a user's talk page (like here), as far as I can tell. I'll leave something in yours so you can see how it works.
- You should leave a message in the user's talk page who keeps deleting your changes. Just look go to the page you changed and click the history tab at the top to see who made changes an when. Select the radio buttons next to your post and the post of th eperson you think did it and click Compare selected version. Click "Talk" next to the name of the person who changed your stuff and leave them a message (like User_talk:Nerk01) and click the edit tab.
- If you can't work out your differences or the person doesn't respond, you can complain to me here. --Fandyllic 3:13 PM PST 29 Mar 2006
CSS
Hey Fanny (lol), do you think if I edit MediaWiki:Monobook.css it would affect my view or everyone's? If it would affect everyones, I'd be highly inclined to CSS all the common formatting we see from page to page. But oh, yeah, I just remembered the default stylesheet is not monobook, but something else. :-( So anyways, do you think we could edit all the stylesheets to include the same (or similar) formatting so that we could implement something like that? Schmidt 22:09, 22 March 2006 (EST)
- I'm okay with you making small evolutionary changes over time to make it more consistent with the default, but you might want to send mail to Rustak and have him add copy of Monobook that you can play with (Monobook2?). Fandy is okay, but please not Fanny. :-P --Fandyllic 9:11 PM PST 22 Mar 2006
I was only talking about adding the contents of tooltipcss under .tooltip, and have a style-sheet class for the banners such as adopted and so on. I'm not sure how familiar you are with CSS. The commonness that I was talking about would be only that all stylesheets would have the same class so that each time there was a block with that class it would stand out on each stylesheet. I wouldn't want to make monobook to look like the default other than that. But yeah, maybe Rustak would be the one to ask. Schmidt 07:10, 23 March 2006 (EST)

TopDread
The Tome Wraith is an undead unit seen on the second map of the Blizzard-made Campaign Exodus of the Horde. I believe, you must have the updated version of Warcraft the Frozen Throne. Then, look in custom campaigns and you'll see the Blizzard-made campaign "Exodus of the Horde" that starts off where Thrall left to Kalimdor until he arrived. The Tome Wraith is not found the Warcraft RPG book to my knowledge but I don't know.
- I added your source info to the Tome Wraith entry.

Coatl is not the correct spelling. Couatl is correct. 1/11/06
WC3 Stuff
- I, TopDread , have heard Crazy Jack's message about tagging on "Warcraft III". I agree. I will specify that the statistics from Warcraft III are from Warcraft III and the units that are only found in Warcraft III to my knowledge will by specified as Warcraft III only units. This will also happen for Warcraft I. I intend to add pictures of pictures taken off the screen with my digital camera of three heroes and the two end-game bases. These will be specified as coming from Warcraft I. 1/12/06
- Units from WC3 should have at the bottom and not . They could have Category:NPCs, if they also appear in WoW or , if they appear in the canon lore from Blizzard (and maybe lunarfalls.com which seems to be reliable). , , or are optional. Anticrash is the category master, so he really has the final say, but that's what I think he would say. --Fandyllic 11:29 AM PST 2 Feb 2006
Some of the user-created player character pages in the Roleplaying Compendium are categorized in the Alliance category. Is this right? -- 00:54 2 2006 Feb Dark Tichondrias
- Probably not. I think the Alliance category is really only for WoW articles... Remember this is WoWWiki and not WarcraftWiki or WCWiki. It's no big deal, though. --Fandyllic 11:23 AM PST 2 Feb 2006
Change to TopDread
I'm user TopDread and I want to change my user name to be TopDread. Is it possible to just move my page and change its name or will this ruin everything and/or not change my account name?
- When you say change your user name do you mean make a new account? I don't think there is a way to change your user name. You can only change your signature name. For example, if I changed my signature name to FAN-DYLLIC from Fandyllic, using
~~~
to put my signature would putFAN-DYLLIC
instead of the previousFandyllic
. - You could create a new account "DarkTichondrius" and put
#REDIRECT User: DarkTichondrius
in your current TopDread user page to redirect people and#REDIRECT User talk: DarkTichondrius
in your current user talk page. This way, even though your old user page links would still show up, they would redirect to your new one. I could even put a note in your new user page that says that an admin approved of this redirect.- --Fandyllic 12:03 AM PST 16 Jan 2006
- I would say the same thing. It's easy enough to just redirect your user page. Now, I don't know what it's like to be an admin, but I know that at Wikipedia they have a page where if you want to change your user name for whatever reason you can put your name on a list and an admin will change the user name. That's as much as I know though. If you can deal with your current username, that might be best, but you just have to go with what you want and if you want a different username, like he said, just redirect your page if it can't be changed any other way. Schmidt 01:27, 17 Jan 2006 (EST)
I have decided to keep my name Dark Tichondrias because I don't want Google to rank my user page over Tichondrius the Darkener's page.--TopDread 01:26, 27 February 2007 (EST)
- It is a more original name. --Fandyllic 10:48 PM PST 8 Feb 2006
Does Blizzard accept individuals using and modifying images they make, excluding fan art and Sons of Storms work? I have modified Blizzard's images for use on a website unrelated to Warcraft, so I was wondering whether or not they would charge me with copyright violation. Image copyright laws are handled differently in different circumstances. I have used them on a non-profit site which is considered acceptable "fair use"TopDread 01:26, 27 February 2007 (EST)
- I'm not the right person to ask, but my guess is that unless it is a parody, it would probably be considered a copyright violation. However, I think it depends on how much you modified it and how you changed it. --Fandyllic 10:11 AM PST 12 Mar 2006
User talk:Shadowy Crafter keeps on removing a picture I drew of a death knight from the death knight page. I have asked him why about two months ago why he removes it, but he has not replied. Would you talk to him to straighten things out? TopDread 01:26, 27 February 2007 (EST)
- I warned Shadowy Crafter. In a week the vandalism penalties will get stricter and his account will get a 7 day ban. Not responding doesn't stop penalties from being enforced. --Fandyllic 10:13 AM PST 12 Mar 2006
Bad Links in Fanfic template
The fanfic templates' links are black so they are hidden by the black background. If you know what the problem is please fix it. I think that it occurred only recently. -TopDread 01:26, 27 February 2007 (EST)
- Sorry about that. Kakwakas fixed it. I put the link color back, but they should now appear okay on all browsers. I was lazy and used
#aaa
which works on some browsers, but not all, so the link colors should be#aaaaaa
now (light gray). I hate the blue link color sometimes, so thats why I colored them gray. --Fandyllic 1:32 PM PST 6 Feb 2006
WoWWiki:Policy/Category
It would have been better to move the article back to what it is now rather than to move the information from one page to the other. That way you could have all the history go along with it. It's probably not that important anyways. Did you just forget that, or did you not know about it? (You can move articles over redirects, in case you were wondering.) Schmidt 22:25, 13 Jan 2006 (EST)
- Yeah, I should have thought about the history thing, but I figured since alot of policy was just added without any real consensus by SilverSide, moving the talk pages was good enough.
- --Fandyllic 9:04 AM PST 17 Jan 2006
World of Warcraft API
On World of Warcraft API, you removed everything and just lumped them into different groups. Fine. It was way too much in one page. However, it might help if you list each group (like Battlefield functions and so on) under each page link so you can kind of get a table of contents so you know what you're looking for. I hope you don't mind, but I'll be doing that in a second now. Schmidt 01:33, 17 Jan 2006 (EST)
- Good idea. I felt like I forgot something, but I coouldn't think of it at that late hour.
- --Fandyllic 9:04 AM PST 17 Jan 2006
Congrats!
- Sigh* everyone assumes I am an admin (see this). Anyway, since you stated you don't know what you can do as an admin, here are some things:
- Unlock, or make the requested edits, on this page (if you need help figuring out how to unlock it, leave a note on my talk page)
- Dunno if you are a bureau or just an admin, but if you are a b.u. make D.F. schmidt and admin - he deserves it too
- Ban pitz92 (again ask me if you cannot figure out how)
- Check the articles in Category:Terminated articles - open them, and delete them. Not blank them out, but actually delete them.
- Give SilverBot bot rights, if you can figure out how; again ask me if such is necessary.
- For god's sake, do something about the main page... *shudders* perhaps post on the Main Page Dev's Talk page that you are now an admin, and if we can come up with a consensus version of the main page you will apply it or something. I agree that the main page either A) needs to be locked or B) needs to be constantly patrolled for spam if it is unlocked (not both) but if it is locked it should *still* be in the hands of the community instead of some 'higher realm' in-accessible to members. the point of locking it to prevent spam and malicious botters, not to make a page the home of the admins
- Finally, pat yourself on the back - the users support you all the way! By no means take all this as some regimental order or plan, just some tips to someone who "don't know what it means exactly" from someone who does (-:
Have a nice day, -- ℑilver§ℑide 22:46, 29 Dec 2005 (EST)
- P.S. I really hope I helped, I typed that really quickly, have a bunch of stuff to do now that I have internet access again! -- ℑilver§ℑide 22:46, 29 Dec 2005 (EST)
Yeah, congrats. Now the burden of pleasing the people is on you. Haha. Just kidding. Take as many steps as you need. For the Main Page, I'd recommend sealing it, but keep the templates that it calls open for editing (or maybe seal them too even). Definitely there are many articles and categories that should be deleted as soon as possible (not necessarily now) so we don't have any more confusion about them. Schmidt 18:54, 30 Dec 2005 (EST)
- Oh! I just remembered. If you have access to it, you may want to consider changing the CSS to include stuff like this:
.uncommon {color: green;} .epic {color: purple;} .tooltip { (whatever the contents agreed upon for template:tooltipcss) }
- If you need help with CSS, you could contact me and I could help you out. Either email or my talk page. In any case, my user page includes links that would help with studying CSS. Those links have been there mostly for myself, but they'll help anyone. Schmidt 19:14, 30 Dec 2005 (EST)
- He has no access to CSS (no FTP access) - I checked, he isn't even a B.C.! Oh well there are some hopes gone...
- Here are some of things I've done with my new evil powers:
- Blocked Ptiz92 for 10 years.
- Made some minor changes to the Main Page.
- Languages doesn't seem to be locked.
- If I can get in touch with Rustak or AlexanderYoshi, I'll float the idea of making Schmidt and admin. I think I can do it myself, but that seems improper.
- I'm taking it slow right now, though.
- Here are some of things I've done with my new evil powers:
LOL. By no means would I reject the nomination for being an admin. It interests me that my name of all stands out. However, as some of you might see, I haven't spent a lot of time here lately. I go to school full time (barely – 13 hours this semester), work full time (essentially – 36+ hours a week). I used to spend more time on the wiki than I do now because I was willing to trade my grades for fun playing WoW and contributing to this here wiki. I am no longer willing to do that (or at least, not to the same extent). So now I'll be studying more, not to mention playing more. (I recently bought a laptop that has 1680x1050 resolution widescreen. Until then I had to play on my brother's computer, and it was hard to get a hold of that.) So from time to time (probably weekly), if I was to be an admin, I would come through and perhaps delete articles that never should have existed and what-not, especially if there was already a list of these (and of course there is a category), and do whatever else that was tasked to me, but I won't be contributing a whole lot other than that. Warcraft 3 info in the WoW Wiki
User:DarkTichondrias appears to be creating a lot of W3 content. While more content is always good, i'm not sure this will make the wiki any more " clear " if units from W3 are not properly descibed as being only available in W3. this is the "wow-wiki" after all. While historical notations on W3 units and background are very welcome.. specific details such as armor or health will only confuse the readers. Especially listing them as "factual" as was done in an older version of the Golem page, does not contribute to the wiki quality. CJ 04:02, 12 Jan 2006 (EST)
- Me, I see that yes, the name of this wiki, fully spelled out, would be World of Warcraft Wiki. That said, I don't think it has to be exclusive to the game that we call WoW. After all, I think the whole idea with calling the game World of Warcraft is that it covers the whole world (or universe if you will) that the games called Warcraft belong to. So I think the name of the wiki lends itself to talking about any Warcraft game. Is that just me? As for confusion between WoW and WarIII, all that needs to be done is emphasize that these units (or at least their stats) are not from WoW, but WarIII instead. Schmidt 21:20, 13 Jan 2006 (EST)
- The problem here really is that WC3 content is not identified explicitly as such. Easiest thing to do is add the info when you see it and tell those authors who are adding lots of non-WoW content to clearly identify it is non-WoW. --Fandyllic 11:46 AM PST 22 Mar 2006
Please restore the API page
Please put the API page back the way it was, you may not like the organization, and it can be kind of unweildy, but it was the way it was for a very good reason. The new 'layout' isn't effective for developers to use, by all means help with the categorization effort on the API pages themselves so that there's an alternate browsing path, but leave the main API page as it was.
-- Flickering 21:53, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
I agree...finding information within split pages is somewhat painful. In any case, any updates that I would do would more likely occur on the /All page because this is what I use. I'm not going to revert this myself however, as I don't want to get in a revert war.
--Endx7 22:05, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
- Me, I find that loads and loads of information on the old page was hard. Perhaps a better solution (which I just thought of, and didn't say on the proper talk page) would be to list all the groups rather than the groups of groups. I mean, have like Party functions on a page and Guild functions and Honor functions have their own page. Oh, I don't know. I guess that suggestion doesn't really make sense, as I think on it now. But exactly what is the superiority of having all the groups all on one page? It's not like they're in alpha order so that you can find precisely the function you're looking for, unless it's in a useful group, and once you know the group, just find the group name on the list, right? It's not that hard. Schmidt 22:19, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
I have to agree with Flickering. The new format is a serious pain to use as a developer. When I'm looking for clarification on a particular function I want to go right to it. Please revert.
--Tardmrr 11:31, 19 Jan 2006 (EST)
- Guys, there is no need to revert the API page. It still exists at World of Warcraft API/All. It is the EXACT same page, it was just moved, thats all. If you don't like the new format, just click the link to the old page. Its one extra click. No big deal. --Anticrash 11:44, 19 Jan 2006 (EST)
Listen to the voice of reason, if you can. This is the most sensible reason to not revert. I wouldn't have thought of that for another day or so or maybe ever. We'll never know, and now we don't need to. I just thought the whole argument is absurd. But I guess the whole thing is over. Schmidt 18:10, 19 Jan 2006 (EST)
I have to be honest, before Anticrash posted, I didn't know about the /All page. However, that is just one more reason to revert. Now to update an API, you have 3 pages to edit instead of two. In addition, I still haven't seen a good reason for making the change in the first place.
"official" lore
Sorry to sound if I'm nit-picking, but since the transformation of the Quel'Dorei into Naga is mentioned (alright, implied) in the "War of the Ancients" trilogy, which is considered official lore as for as our purposes go- when it comes down to it, there's really no difference in the timelines. Other than that, I think we should really thank you for your work against the vandals- so thanks. Ragestorm 06:55, 30 March 2006 (EST)
- Yeah, I did some research and figured that out. See Old Gods discussion, Naga and the Old Gods. The timelines weren't different, Blizzard just left a vague part in the Naga lore on the official site and apparently Knaak put in the Old Gods making a deal with Azshara in one of his books (I've only read the first one so far). --Fandyllic 11:23 AM PST 30 Mar 2006
