uh... where did this info come from?

It came from User:Charred But Alive, who appears to want to start a Gnoll Rumour =) I've reverted the pages, and added a note to his user page to suggest how better to procede. -- Kirkburn 19:45, 15 June 2006 (EDT)

He should make a fan fiction page.

HE IS NOT DEAF. HE IS HERE. THANK YOU FOR THE EXPLANATION, KIRKBURN.

WHAT DOES BTW MEAN?

Oh, by the way, BTW means "by the way". E.g. : "BTW, now there's TV in each room in communist countries. But it's her who watches you."--Kirochi 14:29, 16 June 2006 (EDT)

Conflict with lore

From Gnolls:

While most Gnolls use melee or ranged weapons, some can use shamanistic or even warlock magic. Their favored weapons are Maces, or other Blunt items, and crossbows. When dealing with Magic, Gnolls prefer Nature and Lighting. Smaller Gnolls and Runts are used as Assassins and Scouts because of their Agility.

This would suggest: shaman, warlock, warrior, rogue. Possibly druid. Where did mages and priests come from?

See Servitors. Also, they met no demons because all that demonic junk happend in Kalimdor. They are honorable, so no Rogue. Priest came from their worship of Heena. Mage is there because that's what made them overcome their fear, I geuss. I mean, think about it: They got a demigoddess, and yet they hid, because their enemies (other Gnolls) were descendants of the Demigoddess. Then, when the mages went north to fight or join the Lich King, they dropped some helpful tiddlybits of info. I'm making this up :-). Charred But Alive 15:02, 16 June 2006 (EDT)

He's right, rumors are totally fanfic. If they contradict the lore, there's no problem, because it probably won't happen.--Ragestorm 17:33, 16 June 2006 (EDT)

Hey, I'm trying to get hired by blizzard here! Don't insult my work.

You have a point though. Charred But Alive 09:32, 19 June 2006 (EDT)

I wasn't getting at you specifically, my point was that fanfiction is never canon, no matter how well thought-out it is. But you've essentially changed the established Gnoll intelligence, the main reason they can't be a playable race. In contrast to modern perception, the development of a deity or religion in general, let alone a named deity with specific powers, is the trait of a more intelligent civilization than the Gnolls. In support of your theories, though, I'd consider the Gnolls more likely than Dreadlords. --Ragestorm 10:07, 19 June 2006 (EDT)

I only call the Gnolls beacuse they come from the same liniage as Gnolls. The have developed into a differant species entirly. See Servitors. Charred But Alive 10:17, 19 June 2006 (EDT)

Utter conflict with lore

This would never work.

A. There is no "rarity in females" among Gnolls, they just don't appear in WoW (like the females of so many other races). B. Regular Gnolls are not stupid, your average Gnoll may not be that bright but they're not stupid enough to have severe trouble with standing up. C.All Gnolls have names, although they are primarily compound names in Common, like Snarlmane.

This would never work with WoW, your more likely to have regular Gnolls as a playable race.

And Fan Fiction must fit in with lore, it can change it a bit, but never this much. Ha!--Mannerheim 03:01, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

I agree...sorta

this does not overly conflict with the lore I wuold however sugest trogg in place of earthen and kalimdor was BOTH continents and a little more (not the whole ocean between but about annother continents worth of land that was blown away in the sundering after which the remains drifted a bit away to crate the full ocean gap.) so clearly SOME gnolls would be able to associate with demons.

I would prefer the standard gnolls to be playable under a goblin aligned faction.

Which Faction?

The User i'm afraid forgot to write which Faction the Gnolls belonged either Alliance or Horde, i have the suggestion for Horde [[User:Manuelwow]

They have shamans too like 3 of the 5 Horde races. But you say these guys are honorable so then they might go Alliance. So your version could go either way, WoW's version would probably go Horde. (Mr.X8 20:56, 27 May 2007 (UTC))

No the Horde is all about honor, much more then the Alliance. If your wondering the gnolls aren't actually hunched thats just the way their head is positioned. Zarnks 06:08, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Dude this isn't your fan fic...  IconSmall HighElf Male.gif Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 23:16, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Good stuff

Honestly I enjoyed reading this, seemed like an interesting legend and background. Randomly, a lot of stories I have been reading lately have involved hyenas, and the traits of that species match with what you are trying to build here (maybe you were already aware of that). For one, hyenas are definitely matriarchal, and the women are the warriors. Also, hyenas have difficulty having children, especially the first child. I have no idea if you would want to incorporate that, just sharing some ideas. Keep writing! --Jiyambi t || c 04:37, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Nice

This sounds good, I like the idea. However, it does seem like there are a few major retcons to be made if this were to come about. Also, does the Undeath Resistance also apply to friendly spells, such as Resurrection?  Bill I AM BILL AND I AM A TAUREN HUNTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (talk - contr - web)
