Amber Lord Pri'jirelk is the sixth boss encounter within Temple of Qri'vexx. He has absolute power of all Amber energies flowing throughout Kypari La. He is also responsible for the rejuvenation process of Zoralin's reanimation. A massive Amber Pool lies in the middle of his chamber and its presence is an important part of the encounter as Pri'jirelk's mechanics are based around it. The powerful infection of Fear from the Empress has destroyed most of his sanity, causing him to no longer refer to himself as "I" or "Me" but instead as "Us", "We" and "Our". He does regain his sanity after he sheds his mutation and becomes evolved.

Background

Within the temple of Qri'vexx, the corrosive Sha has made its home deep in the chasms of the temple. From there, it grasps at the minds of the closest mantid, one being the formally benevolent Qri'vexx. The moment it gripped her mind with its energies, a series of unspeakable horrors took over her mindset and all she focuses on is fighting her fears. But learning of the death of the Kypari trees has made her terrified of Kypari La, her home temple, of meeting such an end. Because of this, she has imparted her fear into the closest subjects that are also the most loyal. Ambershaper Pri'jirelk is one such subject of fear and by Qri'vexx's orders, he has been promoted to Amber Lord. Forced to create amber equipment for the mantid, Pri'jirelk constantly receives flashes of his death: a reminder for him to let him realize what'll happen if he fails his task. Now this mantid is desperate to rid himself of his fear by producing a pool of living amber that can effectively alter its recipient's form, granting them power unrelenting. Should the Qri'thik embrace this pool, their power will strike fear into the hearts of their enemies forever and in return grant the Sha power over all of them.

Abilities

Pri'jirelk will enrage after 10 minutes, dealing a massive amount of increased damage. He can be killed if low enough when the enrage occurs. On LFR, the enrage occurs after 15 minutes.

  • Spell quicksand.png Amber Pool Important —  In the center of the chamber lies Pri'jirelk's Amber Pool. This pool has been created for the purposes of enhancing the Qri'thik army, granting them incredible strength. When stepped into, the Amber Pool will deal 300,000 (LFR: 150,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 600,000) Nature damage instantly and applies a single stack of both Amber Mutation and Amber Evolution. After stepping into the Amber Pool, players must wait 5 (LFR: 2 /Heroic Difficulty: 15) seconds before being affected by the Amber Pool (damage will still be done). The next time players enter the pool, it will grant either a stack of Amber Mutation or Amber Evolution. Subsequent applications will grant stacks towards the greater enhancement.
    • Ability creature amber 02.png Bubbling Amber Pool Heroic Difficulty Deadly —  30 seconds after entering combat and every minute afterwards, Amber Lord Pri'jirelk will agitate the waters of the Amber Pool, causing it to bubble fiercely and inflict 200,000 Nature damage per sec. to all players within the pool. In addition, the Amber Pool will only apply Amber Mutation and forcefully causes any Amber-mutated players to violently explode if they step into the pool. Lasts 15 seconds.

Amber Enhancements

As players acquire stacks of Amber Mutation and Amber Evolution, they will eventually transform into a horrifying mass of living amber or become infused with empowering energy. These enhancements occur after 5 stacks.

  • Spell burningsoul.png Amber Mutation Healer Alert —  When altered by the Amber Pool, players will progressively mutate over time. Each application of this effect increases damage taken by 10%. The painful mutating process deals 50,000 (LFR: 25,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 100,000) Nature damage every 2 sec. until the player successfully mutates at 5 stacks. Cannot be removed by players and persists through death. Heroic Difficulty Players under this effect gradually takes 10% reduced healing per stack.
    • Ability rhyolith immolation.png Mutated Horror Important —  Reaching 5 stacks of Amber Mutation causes the affected player to painfully mutate. The flowing amber alters their cells and twists their forms. The player gains a set of abilities while mutated and their massive body blocks line of sight from harmful attacks. This mutated player cannot be healed or gain beneficial effects from allies until the mutation wears off. Lasts 2 minutes. Players have ten times the amount of health when mutated.
      • Ability tetanus.png Mutated Strikes —  The melee swings of the mutated player spreads corrosive amber onto the target. Increases the damage taken by the target by 5% per stack lasting 15 seconds.
      • Spell fire soulburn.png Massive Amber Strike —  With all their might, the mutated player focuses their strength on a devastating strike. Deals 480,000 Nature damage and interrupts abilities normally unable to be interrupted. The flowing amber splashes onto the target, dealing an additional 30% damage over 12 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times. 2 sec cast
      • Spell fire fire.png Amber Aura Important —  Once a player has been completely mutated, their new form will apply a pressurizing heat to their allies. Deals 75,000 (LFR: 37,500 /Heroic Difficulty: 150,000) Firestorm damage to players every 2 sec. for as long as the damaging player is mutated. Taking damage from Pri'jirelk's abilities or stepping into an Amber Pool while mutated will amplify this aura by 25% (LFR: 2% /Heroic Difficulty: 50%).
      • Spell sandexplosion.png Unleash Amber Deadly —  Amber Lord Pri'jirelk forces a random mutated player to unleash the mass of Amber that covers the player. Against their will, they will release the amber in a super explosion that deals 400,000 (LFR: 200,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 800,000) Nature damage to their allies. Amplifies Amber Aura when striking mutated players. A powerful strike from a similarly constructed creature could possibly cancel the casting of this ability. 2.5 sec cast. 25 second cooldown. Pri'jirelk forces a mutated player to reluctantly cast this ability when they are damaged below 50% (LFR: 25% /Heroic Difficulty: 75%) health. Whenever Pri'jirelk melees a mutated player, he will force them to cast Unleash Amber regardless of their health percentage. Heroic Difficulty Instantly kills the player releasing the amber. Mutated players standing in the Bubbling Amber Pool will explode via Unleash Amber.
  • Ability warlock burningembers.png Amber Evolution Important —  When altered by the Amber Pool, players will progressively evolve over time. Each application of this effect increases damage done by 10%. The strange evolving process deals 25,000 (LFR: 12,500 /Heroic Difficulty: 50,000) Nature damage every 2 sec. until the player successfully evolves at 5 stacks. Cannot be removed by players and persists through death. Heroic Difficulty: Players under this effect gradually move 5% slower per stack.
    • Spell fire playingwithfire.png Empowering Amber Important —  Reaching 5 stacks of Amber Evolution causes the affected player to strangely evolve. The mystical amber flows fluidly throughout their body and enhancers their combat capabilities. Damage and healing done is increased by 50% and ability cooldowns are reduced by 50% for the duration. Lasts 2 minutes. Evolved players cannot suffer from the effects of Amber Pool but damage will still be dealt. Players will unleash a blast of amber with each harmful spell cast and melee attacks will corrode the enemy with stinging amber.
      • Spell brew bolt medium.png Amber Burst —  With each spell cast that directly damages their target, players will fire a powerful blast of amber energy. Deals 150,000 Nature damage increased by 20% per cast. This effect will deal a total of 600,000 (LFR: 300,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 900,000) maximum Nature damage.
      • Ability creature amber 01.png Corroding Amber —  Melee attacks from evolved players will have a 50% chance of splashing burning amber onto the target, deals 50,000 Nature damage every 2 sec. for 20 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times. When this effect is applied at 3 stacks, the player will release a blast of Amber that deals 75,000 Nature damage.

Phase One: Pri'jirelk Provoked!

Amber Lord Pri'jirelk will assault his enemies with an array of abilities that can decimate his enemies with ease. He can benefit from the effects of his Amber Pool which results in him either mutating or evolving.

  • Inv misc potiona6.png Pour Amber Tank Alert —  Amber Lord Pri'jirelk opens a flask of acidic Amber and pours it on his target. Deals 850,000 (LFR: 425,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 1,275,000) Nature damage over 1.5 seconds. Pri'jirelk releases a cruel laugh as the player is drenched in amber, increasing the damage of subsequent Pour Amber by 15% per stack lasting 15 seconds. Channeled. 20 second cooldown.
  • Spell fire flamebolt.png Amber Fury Interruptible —  Lord Pri'jirelk focuses intently on destroying random players. This causes him to cast Amber Bolts at random targets for 10 seconds. Each bolt takes 2 seconds to cast and each successful cast deals 150,000 (LFR: 50,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 450,000) Nature damage. Amplifies Amber Aura if this ability damages a mutated player. 25 second cooldown.
  • Trade archaeology insect in amber.png Mark of Amber Healer Alert —  Each time Pri'jirelk loses 10% health or every 45 seconds that has elapsed (whichever comes first), he will unleash a living parasite made of amber that burrows into the bodies of all players. Deals 200,000 (LFR: 100,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 300,000) Nature damage and causes the parasite to weaken the victim's immune system, increasing the damage taken by this ability by an additional 10% per stack. Lasts for the remainder of the encounter and cannot be removed. Heroic Difficulty: Amplifies Amber Aura as it will also strike mutated players.

Phase Two: Mutated Pri'jirelk

At 70% health, Pri'jirelk will dive into the Amber Pool and merges his powers with it. The waters will coalesce within him and twist his form painfully. While mutated, he uses a new set of abilities but will continue to cast Mark of Amber when the correct condition is met. In addition, becoming mutated causes Pri'jirelk to become cleared of all stacks of Mutated Strikes. While mutated, Pri'jirelk can only be affected by 10 stacks of Mutated Strikes at a time.

  • Ability warlock backdraft.png Parasitic Infection Tank Alert Healer Alert —  Pri'jirelk will seriously infect his target with his mutated melee strikes. A viral infection painfully attacks the target from within, dealing 100,000 (LFR: 50,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 200,000) Nature damage every 2 sec. for 30 seconds. This effect stacks up to 5 times and every application of this effect gradually weakens the target's immune system. Healing received is reduced by 20% per stack.
  • Ability warlock moltencore.png Infectious Amber disease Healer Alert —  Pri'jirelk applies an viral amber parasite to a random player. Does not target a tank-specced player or a healer. Inflicts 1,000,000 (LFR: 500,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 1,750,000) Nature damage over 20 seconds. This damage is dealt rapidly. Attempts to dispel this infection causes it to amplify itself on the target, dealing 20% additional damage each time a player attempts to dispel. This effect is not amplified by dispels on LFR difficulty. In addition, if this ability runs its full course, it will take on a dangerous form based on the player's Amber Enhancement. 25 sec cooldown.
    • Ability mage hotstreak.png Amber Stability Important —  The trace of Infectious Amber after it has ran its course becomes an unbalanced form of itself. If a player is mutated or in the process of becoming mutated after Infectious Amber has expired, the Amber virus morphs into Unstable Amber. If the player is evolved or in the process of becoming evolved after Infectious Amber has expired, the Amber virus morphs into Stabilized Amber. If the player is not under the effect of either enhancement or is not in the process of mutating or evolving, the Amber virus becomes more deadly, becoming Infectious Amber once again. When the infection returns, it is treated as if it has been dispelled multiple times, dealing 100% additional damage.
      • Spell yorsahj bloodboil yellow.png Unstable Amber Important —  Players who are mutated or is in the process of becoming mutated after Infectious Amber has expired will suffer an unstable amber virus. The virus causes the player to burn out the infection after 5 seconds. Unleashes a beam of corrosive amber at all players, dealing 250,000 (LFR: 125,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 500,000) Nature damage to players and amplifies Amber Aura on other mutated players. Mutated players can use their massive amber body to block line of sight of this ability for their allies.
      • Inv misc volatilefire.png Stabilized Amber Important —  Players who are evolved or is in the process of becoming evolved after Infectious Amber has expired will fall victim to a stabilized amber virus. This virus deals 125,000 (LFR: 62,500 /Heroic Difficulty: 250,000) Nature damage every 2 seconds. This effect cannot be removed and will only fade once its host falls below 30% (LFR: 50 %/Heroic Difficulty: 10%) health. Heroic Difficulty Stabilized Amber will spread to players under the process of mutating once it fades.
  • Ability heroicleap.png Crushing Leap Heroic Difficulty Deadly —  Pri'jirelk leaps into the air and lands at the targeted player's location. Deals 5,000,000 Physical damage to players within 10 yards of the impact zone. The massive impact will also release an intense heat that overwhelms his enemies. Deals 350,000 Firestorm damage to all players and amplifies Amber Aura. 20 sec cooldown.
  • Spell fire moltenblood.png Ground Strike Tank Alert Important —  Pri'jirelk lifts his massive claw into the air and slams it into the ground in front of him. The initial strike deals 1,200,000 (LFR: 600,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 2,400,000) Physical damage within the 8 yard radius. The strike releases a blast of burning amber that extends outward from Pri'jirelk and continues until it hits a player or collides with the chamber walls. 1.5 sec cast. 15 second cooldown. 2 amber bolts are released on 10-man difficulties and 5 are released on 25-man non-LFR difficulties.
    • Spell fire burnout.png Burning Amber Fissure Deadly —  Players struck by Ground Strike's amber bolts will suffer 200,000 (LFR: 100,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 400,000) Nature damage and causes the bolt to explode outwards, dealing the same damage and leaves a wide radius of scorching amber that inflicts increasing Firestorm damage every 0.5 sec. to players that enter the 10 yard area.
  • Achievement raid mantidraid06.png Lord of Amber —  Due to his power over amber, Amber Lord Pri'jirelk will see the weakness of his creations. When directly attacking mutated players, Pri'jirelk will inflict ten times the damage to those completely mutated with his autoattacks. Killing mutated players by directly attacking them causes them to instantly cast Unleash Amber.

Phase Three: Pri'jirelk's Evolution

When Amber Lord Pri'jirelk has 40% health remaining, he will shed his mutated form by leaping into the Amber Pool once again. Merging his powers with it, he takes on a more powerful form. The amber will evolve his body and his powers. Becoming Evolved removes all stacks of Mutated Strikes and he can only suffer up to 10 stacks of Mutate Strikes. Pri'jirelk will continue to cast Mark of Amber throughout this phase.

  • Ability deathwing grasping tendrils.png Amber Tendrils Important —  Becoming evolved causes unstable tendrils to sprout out the back of Pri'jirelk's hide. These tendrils assist him in combat, attacking random players in melee range for Physical damage equal to 30% of Pri'jirelk's base melee attacks. These tendrils will also unleash an Amber Lash on random players every 2 sec., dealing 150,000 (LFR: 75,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 300,000) Nature damage. Heroic Difficulty The tendrils will improve Pri'jirelk's attack speed by 50% for the duration of the Evolution phase.
  • Spell shaman lavaburst.png Amber Nova Deadly —  Pri'jirelk uses the power of the Amber Pool to unleash a massive explosion that is released outwards from the pool itself. Inflicts 600,000 (LFR: 300,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 1,200,000) Nature damage to all players. Amplifies Amber Aura and temporarily weakens the power of the Amber Pool, preventing it from applying an Amber Enhancement to players (damage is still dealt). The Amber Pool gains its strength back 12 seconds following this ability. Mutated players can use their massive amber body to block line of sight of this ability for their allies. 2 sec cast. 25 second cooldown.
  • Achievement raid mantidraid06.png Mantid Evolution Important —  While under the powers of the Amber Pool, Pri'jirelk evolves which grants him an ability or an effect for him to use against his enemies. Pri'jirelk can use up to 3 abilities granted by the Evolution. He can use up to 2 abilities from the evolution on LFR difficulty. 2 sec cast. 10 sec cooldown. Heroic Difficulty Pri'jirelk can use up to 4 abilities granted by the Evolution.
    • Spell fire immolation.png Evolution: Bladed Amberclaws Tank Alert —  Evolved by the Amber Pool, Pri'jirelk grows deadly claws made of burning amber. His melee attacks deal 1,100,000 (Heroic Difficulty: 1,750,000) additional Nature damage. These claws also grant him the ability to perform Amberclaw Swipe. 25-man: Melee attacks deal 1,500,000 (LFR: 500,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 2,100,000) additional Nature damage.
      • Spell fire immolation.png Amberclaw Swipe Deadly Important —  Pri'jirelk uses his massively grown claws to strike all players in front of him. Deals 6,000,000 (Heroic Difficulty: 8,000,000) Nature damage to players 8 yards in front of him. Damage is divided among all players hit by this ability. 2 sec cast. 10 second cooldown. 25-man: Deals 18,000,000 (LFR: 4,000,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 24,000,000) Nature damage to players 8 yards in front of him and dividing the damage among players hit by this ability.
    • Spell sandexplosion.png Evolution: Gas Burst Healer Alert —  Evolved by the Amber Pool, Pri'jirelk reveals a poison spore and detonates it in the Amber Pool. With the mixture of the Amber Pool and the spore's poison, a powerful burst of amber poison is released into the vicinity. Inflicts 5,000,000 (LFR: 1,000,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 10,000,000) Nature damage to all players over 1 minute. 3 sec cast. 2 minute cooldown.
    • Ability vehicle sonicshockwave.png Evolution: Sonic Disruption Important Interruptible —  Evolved by the Amber Pool, powerful sonic waves course through Pri'jirelk's body. This grants him the ability to unleash a massive blast of sonic energy at his enemies. Inflicts 200,000 (LFR: 50,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 400,000) Physical damage to all players and interrupts any spellcasts in progress. The energy released by this attack will also temporarily disable players, stunning them for 2 seconds. 1 sec cast. 15 second cooldown.
    • Inv misc nerubianchitin 01.png Evolution: Pneumatized Carapace Important —  Evolved by the Amber Pool, Pri'jirelk's wings flap with lightning speed, granting him flight for 10 seconds. While flying he cannot be hit by melee attacks and he will cast Amber Barrage on his enemies. Amber Barrage inflicts 100,000 (LFR: 50,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 200,000) Nature damage on all players and to anyone within 6 yards of the affected targets.
    • Spell fire ragnaros molteninferno.png Evolution: Amber Eruption Deadly —  Evolved by the Amber Pool, Pri'jirelk shrouds all players with unstable energy. After 5 (LFR: 15 /Heroic Difficulty: 3) seconds, the unstable energy bursts outward and inflicts 400,000 (LFR: 200,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 600,000) Nature damage to allies within 8 yards. The eruption causes players to suffer half of the area damage.
    • Inv misc organ 03.png Evolution: Reflexive Muscles —  Evolved by the Amber Pool, Pri'jirelk becomes more quickened. This causes him to use his Evolution abilities more often. This evolution will also improve his haste by 50%.
  • Achievement raid mantidraid06.png Lord of Amber —  Due to his power over amber, Amber Lord Pri'jirelk will see the weakness of his creations. When directly attacking mutated players, Pri'jirelk will inflict ten times the damage to those completely mutated with his autoattacks. Killing mutated players by directly attacking them causes them to instantly cast Unleash Amber.

Phase Four: Power of the Amber Lord

Upon reaching 10% health, Amber Lord Pri'jirelk lunges into the Amber Pool, mixing and weaving the waters of the pool within his body and combining his energies along with it. This causes him to drain the remaining waters of the pool and transform into a terrifying mass of living amber. He will continue the use of Mark of Amber and will remove all stacks of Mutated Strikes. The stacking effect of that ability can only go up to ten.

  • Ability rhyolith immolation.png Mutated Evolution Important —  Changed by the Amber Pool, Pri'jirelk's body suffers a horrible combination of evolution and mutation. His body assumes the appearances of being mutated and evolved at the same time. This causes him to retain his Infectious Amber (and all related effects) and Amber Nova abilities. Mark of Amber will also be used more faster. In addition, Pri'jirelk will deal 30% additional damage with all attacks.
  • Spell mage flameorb.png Flare Orb Deadly —  Using the power of the Amber Pool, Pri'jirelk conjures a burning amber orb and sends it towards a targeted player. If the orb reaches the player, it will burst and deal 500,000 (LFR: 250,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 1,000,000) Nature damage to all players within 75 yards. If 2 orbs collide with one another, they will release a much smaller explosion, dealing 200,000 (LFR: 100,000 /Heroic Difficulty: 400,000) Nature damage to players within 15 yards. The lower Pri'jirelk's health becomes, the more players Pri'jirelk targets with this ability. 5 second cooldown. Heroic Difficulty: If a Flare Orb collides with Pri'jirelk, the pain inflicts 2,500,000 Nature damage to him and stuns him for 2 seconds.
  • Achievement raid mantidraid06.png Lord of Amber —  Due to his power over amber, Amber Lord Pri'jirelk will see the weakness of his creations. When directly attacking mutated players, Pri'jirelk will inflict ten times the damage to those completely mutated with his autoattacks. Killing mutated players by directly attacking them causes them to instantly cast Unleash Amber.

Battleguard Gri'mak

Unable to physically lend aid, Gri'mak brings assistance to the raid in the form of Banners that players can interact with to gain beneficial effects. The banner-granted effects persists through death and players can only have 1 Banner effect at a time.

  • Spell holy championsbond.png Banner of Valor —  Players that interact with this Banner gain the Valor of Unity effect. This increases damage and healing by 3% (Heroic Difficulty: 5%) for every other player within 8 yards of one another. Lasts 2 minutes.
  • Spell holy championsgrace.png Banner of Heroism —  Players that interact with this Banner gain the Heroic Victory effect. This improves haste by 20% for 2 minutes. For each additional player within 8 yards when this effect is granted, the haste bonus increases by 2%.

Strategy

This encounter is quite a challenge overall but paying heed to his mechanics can lead to victory, save for a few deaths. He is a four-phase encounter.

Within the center of his room, there lies an Amber Pool which is essential to this boss's mechanics and encounter overall. This exists throughout the entire fight and is required that players siphon its powers to assist in defeating Pri'jirelk.

Amber Pool's Enhancements

Stepping into the Amber Pool deals damage and grants 1 of two debuffs, each with 1 stack. Amber Mutation and Amber Evolution both grant a stacking effect and even more powerful effect once it reaches maximum stacks. Players must wait about 5 seconds before they can gain the Amber Enhancement stacks again (but they will still take damage).

Mutation

Amber Mutation deals periodic damage and causes players to take increasing damage per stack. This makes the DoT component hit more and more harder as players absorb the Amber Pool. Upon gaining 5 stacks, players will mutate for 2 minutes into a mass of amber with ten times the health. This grants them new abilities and allows them to use their bodies to block Pri'jirelk's abilities from hitting those either under a full stack of Amber Evolution or in the process of mutating/evolving. At least two people should mutated at all times if possible.

Those who are completely mutated gain the following abilities:

Mutated Strikes is a stacking effect that applies a damage taken increase per strike. The auto attacks will stack up to a certain point on Pri'jirelk after he channels the waters of the Amber Pool into himself.

Massive Amber Strike is basically an interrupt which should be used on abilities that can't be interrupted by regular means. Mutated players should use this on other mutated players if they end up casting Unleash Amber. This attack also applies a stacking DoT effect on the target.

Amber Aura is an important "buff" mutated players have that increases in damage whenever they suffer damage from the boss or carelessly step into the Amber Pool. The damage increase is strong enough to wipe a raid (especially if there are too many mutated players present) if they continue to take damage too often. However, players must reluctantly take damage to prevent other non-mutated players from getting killed by Pri'jirelk whenever he casts his more powerful attacks. Managing how powerful this aura becomes lies at the responsibility of the raid and the person(s) that are mutated.

Unleash Amber is the mutated player's AoE attack they have no control of. This ability goes off if Pri'jirelk lands a melee attack on them or if they are under 50% health. Therefore, even with ten times the amount of health players must not grow too careless while mutated. This ability also kills any chances there are of having a mutated tank (especially due to the possibility of someone having over 10 million health). Players can't be healed while mutated so they must take care of much damage they take during the encounter.

Evolution

Amber Evolution applies a stacking effect that increases damage by 10%. This effect also deals periodic damage to players but this damage is lower than Amber Mutation, but due to the fact that players have both Amber Mutation and Amber Evolution means that healers need to watch for anyone getting low on health and heal them back up. Players reaching 5 stacks of this effect gain Empowering Amber which improves damage and healing of those who reach 5 stacks of Amber Evolution. Cooldown timers are also reduced by 50% and the entire effect lasts 2 minutes. Just like Mutated players, standing in the Amber Pool while under the full effect of the Amber Enhancement does not grant another stack but still inflicts damage. Players must take care of their location during the encounter and avoid stepping into the Amber Pool unless absolutely require.

As players casts harmful spells while under Empowering Amber, they will release Amber Burst which increases in damage with each successful cast. This helps players keep up in damage with Mutated players since they hit almost as hard as the boss before he himself mutates. It also helps with killing the boss quicker and thus "beat the enrage timer". Corroding Amber is the Evolution granted ability for melee that is a stacking DoT with a burst component after reaching 3 stacks. This too helps melee heavy raids in keeping up with the enrage timer.

Pri'jirelk Phase One: 100% - 70%

The first Phase of Pri'jirelk is the simplest part of the fight as the boss only has 3 abilities, which are easily dealt with. Pour Amber is the average tank attack that is countered by swapping tanks at certain stacks. Amber Fury is the interrupt ability which is channeled for 10 seconds, giving players more than enough time to cancel it before it is finished (it deals direct damage to players every 2 seconds, and is easily healed through).

Mark of Amber is cast every 10% health lost or every 45 seconds that elapsed since the start of the encounter. This hits all players in the raid and makes them take more damage from this attack. Players mustn't take too long on this encounter or else the boss will cast this attack more than desired.

Pri'jirelk Phase Two: 70% - 40%

Once Pri'jirelk reaches 70% remaining health, he takes to the Amber Pool and rises out of it shortly after. He becomes Mutated and gains new abilities but continues using Mark of Amber (which over the course of the encounter gains the risk of wiping the raid) during the fight. While mutated he removes all stacks of Mutated Strikes and can only be affected by 10 applications at a time.

Pri'jirelk starts with his Parasitic Infection that stacks quickly due to it proccing from his melee attacks. Simply switch tanks at 4 stacks. This debuff lasts quick long but its nothing damage reduction abilities can't handle.

The Amber Lord occasionally casts Infectious Amber. It will only target DPS so players must be aware when they are affected. This effect is a disease but dispellers should keep their fingers off of their dispel button because doing so results in the DoT not being removed. The DoT instead deals increased damage following a dispel. The only counter to the ability's "failsafe" mechanic is to not dispel at all and just let it wear off. Upon fading, this debuff takes on a different form based on the player's current Amber Enhancement.

Players who are mutated or has a higher number of Amber Mutation after Infectious Amber fades will become afflicted with Unstable Amber, which after 5 seconds will inflict a dangerous AoE attack to the whole raid. This is one of the abilities mutated players can block with their bodies, but in turn will amplify other mutated players' Amber Aura, requiring more healing to counter its damage. The more mutated players there are that suffer from this damage, the more intense raid healing will be. Because of this, the amount of Mutated players must be limited.

Players who are Evolved or has a higher number of Amber Evolution after Infectious Amber fades will become afflicted with Stabilized Amber, which is an irremovable debuff that can only be removed once the affected player is damaged below 30% health. Players under this effect should be ignored by healers until they fall under the health needed to remove this effect.

Pri'jirelk will also attack his tank with Ground Strike which has the strength to deal dangerous damage if the tank doesn't move from the impact zone. The attack will also release amber bolts (5 on 25-man/ 2 on 10-man) that expand outwards from the impact area that will deal AoE damage to players it collides with. The explosion will leave a 10-yard radius of flame that quickly kills anyone within it. Simply move out of the way of the moving flame following Ground Strike. In addition, attacking mutated players causes him to inflict 10 times the damage so any attempts at trying to tank Pri'jirelk while mutated is futile.

Pri'jirelk Phase Three: 40% - 10%

Reaching 40% health, Pri'jirelk returns to his Amber Pool, gaining a new form more stronger than the last. This removes all stacks of Mutated Strikes and allows only 10 applications at a time.

For the remainder of this phase, Pri'jirelk grows monstrous Amber Tendrils from his back, which assist him in attacking players in melee range while performing Amber Lashes on random players every 2 sec. for as long as players keep this boss in this Phase.

Pri'jirelk will use his Amber Nova attack to deadly effect. This ability has the power to wipe out most players if cooldowns aren't used or if they aren't topped off. Mutated players must block LoS of this ability with their body, which in turn amplifies their Amber Aura buff and puts players at risk of getting killed by the AoE of the aura.

One of the major mechanics in this Phase is his Mantid Evolution ability. Each cast grants him a random ability or effect that is randomized each attempt. On Normal difficulty he can have up to 3 Evolutions at a time. The combination of abilities granted can put a stress on players, but each ability individually have their own tricks.

Bladed Amberclaws is one of 6 Evolutions. This allows him to deal additional Nature damage to his target while dealing melee attacks. He also gains the ability of Amberclaw Swipe, this inflicts a massive amount of damage in which players have the damage split evenly with other players who take the damage. Therefore, all players should stack in front of Pri'jirelk to evenly split the damage with everyone in the raid. This attack hits extremely hard (especially on Heroic) so everyone must be full on health.

Gas Burst is a powerful raid-wide DoT that lasts 1 minute. Combined with the damage taken increase of Amber Mutation, this applies more pressure on healers. Dealing 5 million damage over one minute, any form of cooldown is recommended to outlast the massive DoT damage.

Sonic Disruption deals moderate damage and interrupts anyone in the process of casting. This attack also stuns players. If this is combined with Bladed Amberclaws, the stun will prevent players from casting an important heal or casting a raid-wide damage reduction effect. However, HoTs that are in place beforehand along with survival cooldowns ensures players will survive any Amberclaw Swipes bound to go off while stunned by Sonic Disruption.

Pneumatized Carapce grants him flight for 10 seconds. This temporarily stops him from casting any other Evolution abilities. He will cast Amber Barrage on all players that forces them to spread out for the duration. This ability, if players successfully spread out each time, is the least threatening of all. If he has Reflexive Muscles, the flight occurs more often, allowing only ranged to attack him.

Amber Eruption is applied to all players, and after 5 seconds, inflicts fatal damage to players next to one another. Players take half of the explosion damage but spreading out makes this debuff less threatening. Combined with Bladed Amberclaws, Pri'jirelk forces players to stack up to split the Amberclaw Swipe damage and then take another 50% of the Amber Eruption explosion damage. This can quickly kill players. If Pri'jirelk has Pneumatized Carapace, this ability doesn't occur that often (it rarely occurs if Pneumatized Carapace is combined with Reflexive Muscles). Sonic Disruption combined with this ability could have fatal consequences if handled poorly.

Reflexive Muscles allows Amber Lord to use his Evolution abilities more often (which is either good news or bad news depending on which abilities he gains, like Gas Burst, which will basically last nearly forever unless he is brought below 10% which ends this Phase and stops him from using that attack). One of the more harder combinations is if Pri'jirelk has this buff combined with Bladed Amberclaws along with Amber Eruption (Sonic Disruption also has its threats). This buff also improves his haste by 50%, making his melee attacks occur faster. As with the Mutation phase before, Pri'jirelk keeps his Lord of Amber passive effect which allows him to quickly kill mutated players if they surprisingly pull aggro.

Pri'jirelk Phase 10% - 0%

At the beginning of this Phase, Pri'jirelk becomes a horrified form of mutative and evolution powers. He removes all stacks of Mutated Strikes can only suffer up to 10 applications at a time. In this Phase, he continues to cast his Mark of Amber but at a faster rate (every 20 seconds compared to the previous 45 seconds). He will also keep using Infectious Amber and its related abilities (Unstable Amber and Stabilized Amber). He will also cast Amber Nova as he sees fit. Because of this, players must react properly to these abilities or else Pri'jirelk will quickly defeat the raid. Mutated players have a slightly more important job in this Phase as they must keep a lookout for when Amber Nova goes off, as it hits harder in this Phase since Pri'jirelk deals more damage this Phase. Mutated players who block this attack will have their Amber Aura dealing even more damage (since they will be blocking it during the previous phases) and bring players to the brink of death. Luckily, the increased healing from being evolved can counter the intense damage that will go out during this final Phase.

During this last part of the fight, players should no longer enter the Amber Pool to focus on burning the Amber Lord before the damage becomes unbearable (due to the possibilities of running low on mana). If players are one stack away from evolving or mutating, then they can enter the pool, but not if the Amber Pool is weakened by Amber Nova as it will only apply Amber Mutation and that is one of the last things wanted during this Phase because multiple Amber Auras ticking on the raid can quickly end the encounter in defeat. Just burn the boss before things get out of hand and all will be well.

Pri'jirelk will also use his Flare Orb ability that fixates and chase random players, one a time. These orbs never go away on their own and if it reaches its target, it results in a 75-yard explosion with a high damage output. This should never happen and the only way to get rid of the orbs is to have 2 orbs collide with each to have a lesser explosion in a smaller radius occur. The other trick of this ability is that more orbs are summoned the lower Pri'jirelk becomes with his health. Because of this, the small group of players that will be chased by orbs must run their orbs into other players' orbs after selecting who they will pair with. Right before Pri'jirelk goes down, the will be a cluster of orbs in play that risks killing players real quick.

Gri'mak Banners

Throughout the encounter, players can interact with Battleguard Gri'mak's Banners one a time. One banner grants players the Valor of Unity effect from the Banner of Valor. This increases the damage and healing of those who interact with it by 3% for every other player nearby. This encourages stacking up before interacting with it to get the maximum bonus from it. After use, they must wait 2 minutes before interacting with the banner again. The other banner grants Heroic Victory which improves haste by 20% and addition 2% for every other player within 8 yards at the time of the interaction. Any banner is beneficial for anyone but raid healers can use the Banner of Heroism to quickly top low-health players off and quickly counter the raid-wide damage, like Gas Burst and/or Stabilized Amber. The horrific Amber Aura effect, which becomes stronger on players who are mutated, is countered by Heroic Victory to prevent unwanted deaths. all DPS could use Valor of Unity to quickly burn through each Phase as quick as possible.

Heroic Changes

  • Pri'jirelk will cast Bubbling Amber Pool shortly into the encounter pull and every minute afterwards. This quickly kills players in the pool and only applies Amber Mutation at a fast rate. Additionally, if any Mutated player steps into the bubbling pool, they will violently explode which results in a wipe.
  • Players under Amber Mutation receive less healing per stack.
  • Mutated players who uncontrollably cast Unleash Amber will be instantly killed.
  • Players under Amber Evolution move slower per stack.
  • The Mark of Amber ability that Pri'jirelk casts throughout the encounter will amplify Amber Aura on mutated players which results in an extremely deadly aura ticking on the raid.
  • Stabilized Amber will spread to mutating players once it fades on evolved players. The damage vulnerability of Amber Mutation can aid in quickly killing players before this effect falls off due to the fact that it will now wear off at 10%.
  • Pri'jirelk, while mutated, gains the Crushing Leap attack that is use to deal extra raid damage to players and puts healers under stress by amplifying the Amber Auras of mutated players.
  • The Amber Tendrils increases Pri'jirelk's attack speed by 50%. If combined with Reflexive Muscles, he begins dealing high dps to tanks.
  • Amber Lord Pri'jirelk will now use up to 4 Evolutions granted by using Mantid Evolution. This reduces the number of combinations he can have but in turn increases the chances of him having the more deadlier combos, similar to Yor'sahj the Unsleeping and Primordius.
  • If a Flare Orb is forced to pass through Pri'jirelk, it strikes him and inflicts a burst of damage to assist in killing him during the final Phase. He will also be stunned for a brief moment.
