The Twilight Fortress is an enormous stronghold for the remnants of the Twilight dragons and their black dragon allies.

Background

The Twilight Fortress is the home to the great Vehemathos and his Twilight brethren. This mighty fortress has been hidden under the shadow of this powerful beast during the onlsaught of the Twilight's Hammer and their draconic allies. Following the destruction of the Destroyer and the end of the Burning Legion's third invasion, that shadow has all but faded, giving way to intruders and those on the hunt for any remaining Twilight and Black dragons.

Dread Entrance

• Zarelion - One of the last Twilight dragons remaining, Zarelion has little tolerance for what he calls foolish heroes. Feeling the spirits of his brethren as a burden on his back, Zarelion seeks to relieve himself of this pain by taking on all challenges from across the world. He now guards the fortress with his life, hellbent on avenging his fallen brood.

• Drake Triumvirate - Voidwing, Skarlenax and Despairon, the three strongest drakes in existence (that remain of their flights), left their broods behind as the Red dragons sought to destroy them where most of them were located. Now, Vehemathos has Skarlenax undergo a powerful fusion experiment that may allow him to merge with Voidwing and Despairon to form a creature of untold strength and limitless power.

• Khylarius - A distant colleague of Maloriak's, Khylarius has been taken under the wing of Vehemathos who has ordered him to conjure up a special experiment. The conditions of this experiment are unknown, but Khylarius constantly mumbles to himself about "doing away with the queen dragon's flight" and "dealing with any intruders". Unlike Maloriak, who's intellect has been somewhat lacking, Khylarius retains his memory and has managed to learn a little Engineering to backup his devious experiments.

• Kitharion - A former Black dragon, Kitharion's corpse has been brought to the Twilight Fortress where the ingenious Khylarius has stripped the dead dragon of its scales and skin. Backed by a new experiment, Khylarius successfully reanimated the mighty Kitharion as a magmawyrm. This new creature lies in wait for those deemed as unwanted guests in order to strike an ambush upon them as they attempt to cross the bridge that leads into the Fortress' inner sanctum.

Innermost Halls

• Combustrius - Another glorious experiment from Khylarius, this automaton's strength has yet to be discovered as it undergoes constant tuning. This fiery war machine has been equipped with both offensive and defensive combat systems to prepare it for any battle that may come. It stands guard endlessly, never moving from its position unless directly engaged by a formidable enemy.

• Chrommyridon - A favored pet of Vehemathos and a successful experiment of Khylarius, this massive drakeadon feeds on pure dragon blood to enhance its bulky form. Weekly, new dragon corpses arrive into this beast's lair for him to feast on and to empower his massive strength and size. With the blood of various dragonflights within him, Chrommyridon will not allow anything (save for his masters) to intrude on his meals or on his territory.

• Vehemathos - The insidious Vehemathos has been cunningly surveying the mortal heroes of Azeroth. Watching them in the guise of a dark shadow has granted him knowledge of their tactics as they defeated the major threats of the world. Through this insight, he prepares himself to become a powerful challenge for the resilient heroes as they continue to grow in power.

Achievements

Dread Entrance

•  Heroic: Zarelion —  Defeat Zarelion in Twilight Fortress on Heroic difficulty.
  •  Dance with the Darkness —  Complete the Zarelion fight after achieving the following within a single attempt on Normal or Heroic difficulty.
  • Do not let any player die from Torment Prison.
  • Avoid damage from Darkening Bolt.
  • Eliminate all four Void portals within 30 seconds of leaving the Twilight Realm.
  • Destroy the Void Shades without any player dying.
  • Do not take more than 50% of your health in damage from Void Nova.

•  Heroic: Drake Triumvirate —  Defeat the Drake Triumvirate in Twilight Fortress on Heroic difficulty.
  •  Three Drakes, One Body —  Eliminate the Drake Triumvirate on Normal or Heroic difficulty without letting any player die to either drake before the final transformation.

•  Heroic: Khylarius —  Defeat Khylarius in Twilight Fortress on Heroic difficulty.
  •  Nothing But A Science Experiment —  Eliminate Khylarius in Twilight Fortress on Normal or Heroic difficulty without killing any Experimental Horrors. Elite difficulty.

•  Heroic: Kitharion —  Defeat Kitharion in Twilight Fortress on Heroic difficulty.
  •  Fainting Absolute —  Defeat Kitharion on Normal or Heroic difficulty without any player suffering from a Heat Wave.

Innermost Halls

•  Heroic: Combustrius —  Defeat Combustrius in Twilight Fortress on Heroic difficulty.
  •  Game Mode, On —  Defeat Combustrius on Normal or Heroic difficulty before he enters Offense Mode for a third time. Elite difficulty.

•  Heroic: Chrommyridon —  Destroy Chrommyridon in Twilight Fortress on Heroic difficulty.
  •  The Blood Within Him —  Defeat Chrommyirdon on Normal or Heroic difficulty while experiencing every Blood Form at the time of his demise.
  • Defeat him during Fire Blood.
  • Defeat him during Frost Blood.
  • Defeat him during Acid Blood.
  • Defeat him during Shadow Blood.
  • Defeat him during Arcane Blood.

•  Heroic: Vehemathos —  Defeat Vehemathos in Twilight Fortress on Heroic difficulty. Title Reward: <Name>, Bane of Dragons
  •  The Drake Can Wait —  Complete the Vehemathos encounter on Normal or Heroic difficulty while destroying every Inferno Drake after killing the accompanying Darklight soldiers.
