About

I was introduced to the Warcraft universe by Warcraft II, which remains one of my favourite games. I also went back to play the very first Warcraft (Orcs and Humans) some time after discovering Warcraft II. I have played every Warcraft game released to date. I also read a few Warcraft novels, namely: Day of the Dragon, The Last Guardian and the War of the Ancients Trilogy.

I started playing World of Warcraft in September 2005, and was really active until early 2008. Since then, I've been taking a month or two once in a while. I am still and will remain a big fan of the Warcraft setting and lore though, and WoWWiki is a great place for this!

Characters

Just the main/most active ones:

Horde Crest

Warlock IconSmall Undead Male.gif [70]

My first and main character is a human mage. I mostly stopped playing him around Burning Crusade's release, mostly because I started leveling a Horde (forsaken warlock, who is now stashed/retired at 70) with some friends who got into the game around that time, but also because I just didn't like the way they made Outland (so starting another character from scratch was a great "excuse" to "delay" Outland). Since the mage has been with me from the very start, I've got a soft spot for him =). He's currently taking things slowly in Northrend, enjoying the storylines. My main focus these days though is a blood elf paladin. Finally, I'm a proud altoholic, and have a multitude of lowbies of all levels. If I were able to make a character of any race present in the Warcraft universe, it would probably be a high elf priest; they were awesome in Warcraft 3!

Random nitpicking on Warcraft's current state

  • I am fervently opposed to some recent lore developments, namely flying fortresses and geometrical forms being behind the Light (which to me is kind of like the Midi-chlorian things that Lucas pulled off in the Star Wars prequels). I daresay that Burning Crusade is by far my least favourite of all the Warcraft games, and it nearly made me stop playing.
  • Incidentally, I really miss the setting as it was in Warcraft II. I just like its more "classic" feeling.
  • I wish Blizzard would be a bit more careful with lore continuity, especially when they try and create "progression" through patches. In my opinion, the blood elf story arc that spanned through Burning Crusade was rather poorly made: when they got to the end, they completely dropped the ball and now we're left wondering what really happens in the post-Sunwell Quel'Thalas. And what about this "new" Sunwell? Is the addiction eased? What about the High elves in all of this? So many questions that I fear will never be answered.
  • I think WoW would gain a lot by trying to get closer to Warcraft III in some areas, most notably the elves at large. For example, the night elves in War3 were portrayed as being quite feral and nearly bestial in nature - they lost this unique twist in WoW. I get the feeling Blizzard "Tolkienised" them so that the Alliance would still have a traditional elven race after "losing" the high elves. Nevertheless, I found the night elves to be much more interesting in Warcraft 3: more mysterious, savage, and unique.
  • While I'm on the subject of night elves, they really should start neutral with the rest of the alliance, as the forsaken and blood elves do with the horde. Tree-huggers shouldn't be instantly friendly with the industrial gnomes and dwarves, as well as the humans who have a history with magic about as prolific as that of the high elves.

Wishlist

  • I'd like it if Blizzard would add some variety within each race based on classes. For example, being able to play as broken draenei shaman, or opening up hunter for forsaken in the form of dark rangers.
  • I would like class-specific quests. There are a few of these pre-60, and although they weren't that great it's still better than nothing.
  • I wish they would start using some "big" lore names other than Thrall and Varian. Tyrande, Cairn, Magni and Lor'themar to name a few are all doing absolutely nothing. Same goes for Rexxar, who is now apparently stashed in Outland, and Rokhan who just gives a single quest.
  • Some model variety for characters. Human males look like Neanderthal men.
  • High elves. Never going to happen, but hey I'm allowed to dream.

Random stuff

My favourite lore characters are Lothar, Uther, Malfurion and Sylvanas (I like her attitude towards Arthas in Frozen Throne =P). I kind of liked Kael as he was portrayed in Warcraft III, but they decided to turn him into a one-dimensional nutter in BC. Oh well.

Outside of Warcraft, I'm a big fan of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. I also really liked the Harry Potter books.

Gaming wise, I like RPGs and strategy games. My favourite games of all times are (in no particular order): Baldur's Gate (the real PC series, not the stupid console spin-offs), Knights of the Old Republic and Warcraft II. Warcraft III, WoW and the Jedi Knight series also score pretty high, as well as Civilization 2 and 4 (Civ3 and I just didn't get along very well for some reason).
