The Hungering Cold is a tanking one-handed sword and also a great offhander for rogues. Fury warriors benefit from this item as well, as its fast speed makes them generate rage significantly faster than they would have with a slow weapon such as [Gressil, Dawn of Ruin].
Source
This item was a drop from Kel'Thuzad in the original Naxxramas.
Notes
The model of the Hungering Cold was used in the South Park Episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft". The Sword of a Thousand Truths, as it was called in the episode, had to be delivered by Stan's dad in order to defeat "That which has no life," referring to a man who had played World of Warcraft every hour of every day for a year and a half. The [Sword of a Thousand Truths] is designed to cast a massive Mana Burn, draining an enemy's entire mana pool.
Highlord Darion Mograine uses a pair of Hungering Colds after Death Knights leave the Scarlet Enclave.
This sword also shares the same model and icon as [Slayer of the Lifeless] from the new level 80 Naxxramas.
Speculation

The reference to hungering and cold and similar appearance to Arthas' Frostmourne may suggest that this sword is one of the runeblades used by Ner'zhul's death knights.
