How is a Titan and a Vrykul even related? Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 12:10, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

You might even want to ask the same question regarding Elune and Cenarius? g0urra[T҂C] 13:00, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
I guess that is true. Although, Cenarius is the child of Elune and so he looks sort of like a mix of his parents. These two are brothers and are two different races though. Unless they are half-brothers or something. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 23:59, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
I think that is just looking too much into the model. Most likely Blizzard just chose that model since it is a bit more interesting than having both Loken and Thorim use the same exact model. Since Thorim is a guardian just like Loken and the other missing guardians such as Freya and Mimir (who likely will be corrupted bosses in Ulduar) then he likely is not a vrykul at all. Leviathon (talk) 04:10, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Thorim is almost certainly a titan. Consider the following:

  • His brother is (presumed to be) a titan. [[1]] [[2]]
  • He's much larger and more powerful than any vrykul (he created the site known as Thunderfall in a fit of rage). [[3]]
  • The Brunnhildar frost vrykul revere him as a god-like being. [[4]]
  • He was one of the guardians appointed to watch over Ulduar in ancient times. [[5]]
  • He's named for a Norse deity (Thor), as are Loken (Loki), Mimir (Mímir), Tyr (Týr), Holdir (Hœnir), Sif, and Freya.

Why would he use a frost vrykul model instead of a titan one?

  • They didn't want him to look identical to Loken (or like a palette swapped Loken).
  • The horned helm and long beard are more reminiscent of the way Thor is usually depicted.
  • He was "sworn to protect the pacts between the races of frost". [[6]]
  • He's been sitting in the cold for hundreds or thousands of years.

Your first reason ("His brother is a titan.") has no support. Since when is Loken a titan? All the other stuff is purely speculative and equates Norse gods with Titans; all points that have no support either. --Gengar orange 22x22.png Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:49 PM PST 3 Dec 2008
I really don't think neither Loken, nor Thorim are titans. Titans, according to the lore, are immensely powerful beings who imprisoned the old gods and gave a small portion of their power to the immensely powerful Dragon Aspects. Besides, the lord of the Burning Legion Sargeras is also a Titan. With all these facts, I don't think that lesser individuals like Loken and Thorim can be Titans, but maybe Titan's creations only.Neltharion (talk) 02:24, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
You're thinking of the Pantheon, the god-like rulers of their race. The "average" titan isn't on their level. Egrem (talk) 19:54, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
And where did you get that information that "average" Titans are as inferior as Thorim and Loken? Titans are repeatedly reflected as the creators of the worlds, not only Pantheon, but as a whole race. And the creators of the world can be killed by five wayward intruding mortals you say? Improbable. Neltharion (talk) 01:04, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
You seem to be under the impression that each individual titan has the power to shape worlds on their own. It's far more likely that lots of Titans arrived and worked together to create Azeroth. So on their own they will be powerful, but not invincible. When facing five highly skilled enemies I imagine one could be easily defeated. User:Jormungand01/sig 13:40, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Point of note statistically speaking the average titan race seen in the RPG are no where near the power level of the Pantheon characters seen in the same book. Powerful sure, but not the same levels as their leaders. For that matter not even the Pantheon are completely "invincible".Baggins (talk) 10:12, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

should we put race: unknown? Noobi666 (talk) 13:48, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

New Model?

see Talk:Hodir. if thats the case, then i think it clears up the race confusion slightly ;) --Adonzo (talk) 10:09, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Either that, or Thorim is suffereng from the curse of flesh.Baggins (talk) 10:10, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I don't think that's him. The character from the preview has a strong association with cold (the domain of Hodir) but nothing to do with storms (the domain of Thorim). His weapon also looks nothing like Krolmir (despite the questline to retrieve it for him). If Thorim gets a new model, I'd expect it to reflect his status as the Stormlord. Egrem (talk) 02:24, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Thorim's new model can be seen here: [7] He looks to be an Aesir titan, and his face and hairstyle are very similar to the current depiction of Marvel's Thor. Egrem (talk) 07:25, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Now he looks a lot more like Loken. Makes sense, considering. --Joshmaul (talk) 23:38, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Found a video for Thorim in Ulduar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ2_-uFaYl8

Not sure if the model he's got in it is a place-holder 'till they get that other one you guys are talking about up and running, but oh well. Toran Wildpaw of the Frenzyheart (talk) 15:37, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Sure hope it is a placeholder, kinda boring if he used same model as Loken

Another new model: [8] He now looks even more like Marvel's depiction of Thor, with lightning bolts on the side of his helmet (where the comic book version has wings). Egrem (talk) 19:11, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Now that's more like it. I wonder if this means his model in Storm Peaks'll get a facelift? (And maybe Loken's too, just for giggles...to make him look more "evil" and such.) --Joshmaul (talk) 22:59, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Doubt Loken's model will change. It's unique as it is. --User:ShandrisForever 23:27, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Not completely unique. He is the only one that uses it right now, but it is the male version of the old titan model used by ones like Ironaya, Maiden of Virtue.--SWM2448 23:50, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Thorin

Is the paragraph about Thorin Oakenshield warranted? It seems more like a handful of superficial similarities than a direct reference, IMHO. Egrem (talk) 05:59, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
