Boot enchants don't stack with sprint.

I don't believe that the discussion here is correct.

The modifiers don't multiply but add.

For example, gloves + spurs is not a 1.02*1.04 speedup, but 1+0.02+0.04.

Personally I don't think one, singular FORUM POST constitutes sufficent evidence to justify a complete rewrite of the article. Changing it to talk about the fact that there is some debate about how stuff stacks is one thing...but simple fact is that as you said yourself, some stuff doesn't stack. That, combined with the extremely short durations and the global cooldown makes getting that 800% speed a really bad example. I'd almost consider it malicious even, and I'm currently resisting the urge to revert your changes as verging on vandalism. I've used speedometer mods before and noted the multiplicative stacking personally, but as you put your faith in some random guy's forum post instead of providing ACTUAL evidence, I'm going to do this a little differently. :P BRB with screenshots using the very same mod that guy in the forum post used. Units of Measurement

Blizzard describes spell ranges in yards, but movement speed is only described in percentages, and distances between points on the map are sometimes described in pixels. What on Azeroth is the movement speed of a player's toon, in yards/minute? -Mozai 17:43, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Immortares@EU_Twisting_Nether may have answered my question: chart ... does 7 yards/second (14 miles/hour) for running speed sound right? -Mozai 18:00, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Speed Tests

BAH. Blizz screenshot is lagging the game and causing the speed to go down before it takes the shot. Fraps gets the proper screenshot though. All files converted from bmp to jpg in gimp, unmodified otherwise.

Using monkeyspeed 2.6, available at http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3977/ .

First, my mage, who has the glove enchant and the spurs, but not her carrot on a stick yet, which will counterpoint your above example nicely. First with no modifiers. Straight 160% as you'd expect. [1] Now, with just the gloves. which according to you should result in 162%. Oh dear, 163%. [2] 1.6*1.02 = 1.632. Now with just spurs, which according to you should just be 164%. Whoops. 166%. [3] 1.6*1.04= 1.664 (WoW rounds really funny, not the first time I've seen that sort of thing.) Okay, now both. according to you should be 166%. Think we've blown that out of the water by now but let's do this anyway. Oops, 170%. [4] 1.6 * 1.02 * 1.04 = 1.69728.

Now then, for the sake of arguement, I'm going to go one step further and assume that it is additive and that our known numbers are wrong. so based on the OBSERVED numbers let's see here... 3% for gloves, 6% for spurs. 1.60 + 1.03 + 1.06 = 1.69. 1% short.

Okay, now let's try my warrior with a riding crop and an epic flyer. It says right on the tooltip that it increases mounted speed by 10%. Base speed observed at 3.8. [5] 3.8 + 0.1 = 3.9. 3.8 * 1.10 = 4.18. Observed? 418%. [6] On the ground, 200% observed base speed. [7] 2.0 + 0.1 = 2.1. 2.0 * 1.10 = 2.20. Obsevered? 220% [8]

Alright, well you're getting owned here dude. let's try my level 20 alchemist rogue then. 100% unmodified as we can see. [9] plus rank 1 sprint(50%), the expected 150%. [10] Now just a swiftness potion. 150% again. [11] Now. If you're right, 1.5 + .5 = 2.0. If they stack additive, it's a 200% speed. 1.5 * 1.5 = 2.25. Greater than an epic with a riding crop. But my theory is that they don't stack at all, and will end up at 150%. Oh-ho! Not only do they not stack... SPRINT OVERWROTE THE SWIFTNESS. [12] That's one thing you got right then. Granted that throws your 800% model right out the window.

The Lesson? Don't listen to random idiots on forums, half the time they don't know what they're talking about. The trick that keeps 800% speed from happening is that getting all those things to go at once is impossible. Between global cooldown, short durations, non stacking modifiers, and overwriting modifiers.

Reverted. Feel free to rewrite, but this time use some CONFIRMABLE evidence and not just some random guy on a forum that could be full of it. And please, try to keep the bias and weasel words out of it too. Graptor 09:28, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Feel free to use these shots in the article if you like. Graptor 09:34, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
