Old discussion

Where does the info on this page come from? Who are the Quiraji, and where are they mentioned? How is it known Quiraji rule the Silithid from behind the wall? And how do we know the Scourge control the Silithid queen? And last but not least, how do these two last facts correlate?? I'd like some sources here :)

That the Scourge control the Silithid was only rumor. Fact is that the Qiraji control the Silithid, as told in game.

Hey LemonBaby, do you think it'd be a good idea to move the Silithid page to Category:Silithid and assign that cat to all Silithid pages? I thought I'd ask since you're doing alot with the silithid right now.. --Anticrash 12:16, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)
I had think about it, too ;-) Shall we add the Quirji and Nerubian to the Category, because they were once silithids, or just a silithid category, or a category like "insectoids". I prefer the just silithid category. What do you think? - LemonBaby
Yeah, just the silithid cat. We could add the cat to the Qiraji, but not Nerubians. Nerubians and Silithid both evolved from the Aqir, but are now unrelated. --Anticrash 13:55, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)
Changed the history section back to a better more accurate one. --JarHed 00:47, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Other castes

There are these wasp-like things with long legs swarming around the Swarming Pillar and I think in some rooms in AQ40. Are these just wasps? Also, the models files list a dragonfly along with the other immobile silithid. Is this in the game anywhere? If unsure, I'll look at some hives.

Also, while the current system works, would classifying silithid based on role and not model be pointless without the RPG? Mob suffixes, as I call them, can be lore-worthy in some cases.--SWM2448 21:08, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

I think we would need pictures to know if they are wasps are not.
We already list things like the light bugs and such so those should probably go to the list too.
I think we can with both.
About the Scorpion-Like caste, shouldn't we make a article about that caste?, since there are more than one with this model?--Ashbear160 (talk) 21:27, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Or someone with an active account could go look or confirm it. If it is not in the game, then we can't put it in. I'm not sure how notable a doodad has to be before it gets a page. I'm also not sure if silithid scorpids are a thing independent from regular scorpids.--SWM2448 21:35, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
I think the little wasp creatures that fly around the Swarming Pillar are possibly workers with wings... they seem to be found at all the hives with those spines sticking from the ground, they could be the ones growing/building? them. I'm not sure if they are completing noteworthy of their own article. As for the scorpid-like silithid, the only source of their name was the Swarmer, which Cataclysm changed that. I think we should stick with the model being used to classify their caste/role, unless they're stated otherwise in some quest text. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! If we have the light bugs they are worth it... i think.
So we should add the following: Hive'Zara Tail Lasher, Vekniss Hive Crawler and Qiraji Scorpion to the silithid swarmer article(which was made shortly before i wrote this.)--Ashbear160 (talk) 21:54, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Though Monster Guide says that they look like scorpions, likely based on the first type most players will encounter, I think that page should be reserved for silithid called swarmers or having the ability to summon swarms of young.--SWM2448 22:01, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
The little wasp worker creatures, Ashbear, what would you call the article, if they got their own page? As for the scorpid-like mobs, I placed a note of them on the Silithid page, but as their exact caste, I have no clue... Swarmer doesn't seem to fit, as thoese three don't carry any young with them, so I agree with SWM. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! The leggy wasp guys can be found flying around in Feralas, and buzzing around the barrel-shaped hive structures in Un'Goro and Silithus (all over). The Swarming Pillar ones are just massive. I could not find any of the dragonfly ones. Also, a wasp was called a swarmer, but it didn't have anything to do with a swarm of young, so I don't know if (and doubt that) it counts.--SWM2448 22:28, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Well about the wasps don't we have something like the object model name or something?
I just think we should make a article for "Silithid scorpions" since there are 4 examples of them and they all share part of the description from the RPG (scorpion like silithid).--Ashbear160 (talk) 22:32, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
As for a model name, I think they don't have just one. It changes depending on how they are flying. You have "quiraj_small_swarm", "waspswarm", "wasp01", "wasp02" and maybe others. Silithid wasp and silithid swarm are taken.--SWM2448 23:10, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Hives

What seems to be our criteria for a major/minor hive? Cause I would think that the extremely large hive that protects the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj would be a major hive. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:27, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

It is definitely the biggest hive. It may have been added as minor because it does not exist as a named hive separate from the temple.--SWM2448 05:18, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

RPG info

What's interesting is if you remove all the RPG references, and put all that info back where it was... it would all still be true as seen in-game. Just because it has the RPG backing info doesn't mean its exclusive only to the RPG. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 01:41, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
