High priestess?

I have never gotten the impression that Shandris became the high priestess. Where's this information from? --Flyspeck 14:15, 5 November 2006 (EST)

Not a High Priestess, but the new Stormrage book does call her priestess on at least one occasion.--Shadda (talk) 04:12, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

Still haven't read the book, but in what context is she called that? It could simply mean that basic priestess training is mandatory for females in higher ranks in NE society, so yes, she might be a priestess, but not a "practicing" one. At Tyrande's request, Shandris takes over as head of state when Tyrande travels into the Nightmare after Malfurion. Since the High Priestess is the head of state in modern Kaldorei society, she may have been addressed as such during her brief time in that position.Synchronizor (talk) 21:30, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

New model?

In patch 2.0.1 there were updates not included in the patch notes. One of those was a model-change for Rexxar. It is possible that Shandris also received a model-change, since she has been, til' now, sharing model with other NPCs, which is very unfitting for a lorewise important character. It is also possible that Shandris has been upgraded to 72 elite (boss)(like Saurfang). Will someone please travel to Feralas, take a new screenshot, post it here, alongside with other, if any, other news about Shandris.

No new model. Anyway, Rexxar has been moved to Outland and there's plot regard his race, which explains the model change. Shandris hasn't budged and has nothing to do with Outland. ----  Varghedin  talk / contribs 08:37, 11 February 2007 (EST)

I have changed the article on her where it says 72 humaniod. she is not a level 72 npc nor a boss. currently for patch 2.1 she is still a level 62 regular npc. Feathermoon as of Patch 2.1--Spectrezh 05:08, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

The alliance outrunners in the barrens has a peculiar member named Thora Feathermoon. Any idea why? - Erissia

All of Shandris' family were killed by the demons in Ara-Hinam, as clearly stated in The Demon Soul. The reason of Thora, I believe, is that the people creating these night elven patrollers thought "That's a cool surname, let's use it on this night elf as well" and did not bother consulting the bourbon cowboy about it. I could be wrong, but that's just a thought. She could be, as Ragestorm said, a distant relative, but there has been no confirmation, and I agree that there is no reason listing her as a relative, yet. Thats why I stated its probably not a relative. Also because Shandris is a pretty important character (meh) in lore, I highly doubt that its a shared last name. I beg to differ with NerdKnight, it actually states in the War of The Ancients Archive, Demon Soul by Richard A. Knaak, on page 329 that Tyrande "was near-certain that no one in Shandris's immediate family had survived..." Since the author actually uses the term "immediate family," rather than just saying "family," or "entire family" it does leave open the possibility that Shandris has "extended family" that survives. Also, as long as the night elf race has lived in peace and prosperity, marrying and pro-creating it is possible Shandris may have many relatives with the same surname, long separated from the main family tree. Although I am not as yet familiar with NE naming traditions, I wonder if Thora were the offspring of Shandris and Jarod, as proposed by Erissia, then should not her surname be Shadowsong? Or are the NE a matriarchial society that takes the surname of the mother for the offspring? Or might there be some other scandelous reason?--Kasman785 (talk) 00:15, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Based on my research (such that it is), it seems that Night Elves keep their original surnames when they marry, or at least have the option to. For example, Tyrande Whisperwind does not become Tyrande Stormrage after she marries Malfurion. Another example is Cerellean Whiteclaw and Anaya Dawnrunner. I'm not aware of any established lore regarding the assignment of surnames to children, but I would guess that either the parents choose which surname their child will bear, or the child chooses for him/herself. Shandris' Age

Is there any evidence for Shandris being of the age 16 as cited in the article? This would be in contention with the WoW Lore Books' statement on lifespans and rate of maturity up to 400 years old. Preferably a citation from War of the Ancients to support this age would be useful. Gejrak (talk) 18:41, February 6, 2010 (UTC)

I don't have my copy of the WotA trilogy with me, but I don't believe there was ever a specific number given for Shandris' age. I do remember a line in the book stating something to the effect of "she was a few years from the age of serving as a novice in the Temple". Someone unaware of Kaldorei maturation rates must have taken that to mean 16 years. I'll check it when I get back home. Synchronizor (talk) 07:36, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Here's the passage from the book: "A small figure crouched by herself seized the priestess's attention. A young female, two or three years away from being able to enter into the service of Elune, sat in miserable silence, staring at nothing. (WotA Archive, p. 328)" So there isn't a specific age given, and since we don't even really know the appropriate age for Kaldorei girls to begin serving in the Temple during that time period, I'm going to go ahead and edit the article from 16 years to 'young adult' or something along those lines, unless someone has a problem with it.Synchronizor (talk) 21:26, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

I made the change, saying instead that Shandris was an adolescent. I also took the opportunity to correct two other apparently assumed facts: that Shandris was born in Ara-Hinam, and that her parents were killed during the attack on the village.
