!Important Update!

Due to the new patch, all the Karazhan loots with the tier 1/2 recoloring (sans the leather) are now recolors of the much less attractive Dungeon Set 3. SSC and TK loots with those colorings are now recolors of Tier 5. This will take a big overhaul for this article. :( - Imperial

:( indeed! - Anarchie

Question is, do we delete the out-dated info or keep it for posterity's sake? (I say, good riddance to that awful yellow/green Lawbringer set! :) ) Also, do we include BC set look alikes (i.e., the Beast Lord look alike "set" from Kara for Hunters)? RobertM525 08:52, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I've done several modifications for the 3 old Lawbringer sets, as some parts have been changed in recent patches. Now they look like Paladin Raid 5, Warrior Dungeon 3 and Warrior Raid 5. The old "green and ugly" Lawbringer look alike has only 3 items left which are not listed anymore (1 belt, 1 bracer et 1 glove). I was about to upload screenshots for the 3 new sets when I realised there's only pre-BC sets variants on this article. Should we add other chapters with Raid 4 / Raid 5 / Raid 6 and Dungeon 3 look alikes sets ? Or should we delete the old Lawbringer sets as they don't look like pre-BC sets anymore ? Le Jedi Fou 10:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Same problem for the two "Red Dragonstalker" look alike sets.

  • It seems only 3 parts have stayed the same (1 helm, 1 belt and 1 glove). Every other parts listed are dispatched into different look alike sets.
  • 3 pieces look like the Hunter Dungeon 3 set.
  • 3 other pieces look like the Shaman Dungeon 3 set.
  • 1 shoulder is a black, gold and grey version of the Dragonstalker set, with no other piece matching these colors.
  • Another shoulder looks exactly like the Hunter Dungeon 3 set.
  • 1 boot is now matching the Cyclone (Raid 4) Shaman set.
  • Another boot is now matching the Cataclysm (Raid 5) Shaman set.
  • The rest of the armors parts listed (plus some others I've found) now forms a 6 parts Shaman Raid 5 look alike set.

Considering the few elements being part of a look alike set (no more than 3, except for the Shaman Raid 5), I suggest we delete the old Red Dragonstalker look alike sets.Le Jedi Fou 05:01, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

I think it's fine to keep the sets with updated graphics, as long as the images are updated to match the new look. I didn't think the aim of this page was specifically to show the recolored "Old World" graphics - I just wanted to match up the sets according to look. I'm thinking about how to programatically load up this page and turn it into equipment profiles for WoWModelViewer. Anarchie 19:37, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Work to be done

I've done quite a bit as far as making this article correct, but it's still ugly. I need someone who has a good eye and the patience to tweak this until it's pretty. If you can make one set look good, I can take care of putting that look on the rest of the page. Anarchie 20:30, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

old: I've just started this article and haven't, obviously, gotten very far on it. So far, I've been finding the items primarily by scrolling through the graphics in Model Viewer. If anyone knows an easier way, I'd love to hear it. Also, items that look like old set items but don't have any matching pieces shouldn't be listed, IMO (i.e., the Wildguard Helm looks like the Valor helm but doesn't match the rest of the pseudo-Valor set). Eventually, this article should have pictures, links to the items in Thottbot/Allakhazam, and the items should be appropriately colored for their rarity (all the T0 items I've seen so far are blue). Lastly, if anyone has a better idea for a title than what I chose, I'd love to hear it. :) RobertM525 06:02, 14 February 2007 (EST)

Also, a table of the levels of the items (to equip and maybe also iLevel) and where the drop from rather than a bulleted list would also be something I'd like to add in the future. RobertM525 01:34, 15 February 2007 (EST)
I found this page while looking for info about the Nemesis look-alike. I grabbed the model viewer to find out which helm and shoulder matched the set. Then I figured out that I could look up the helm on Wowhead and check the comments to see if anyone had already put together a set - managed to fill out three or four whole sets that way. Also, I put together a few pics for certain sets, but I couldn't see the graphics for a couple boots and whatnot, presumably because my server hadn't seen them drop yet they aren't in items.csv yet. Also, I noticed a few epic-quality lookalikes with yet another color scheme, but again I couldn't view all of the armor pieces... Anarchie 19:06, 9 March 2007 (EST)
I might have found a way to make peeking through the model viewer a bit easier: Edit the items.csv file (keep a backup) and remove all items numbered below 23321. This ought to keep you looking at Burning Crusade items only. If you keep numbers 16666-16966, the Tier 0-2 sets stick around, along with a few random items in the middle. Anarchie 10:46, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

I believe there are 2 epic versions (well, 1 1/2) of Arcanist you've missed. In purple: Battlecast Hood or Headdress of the High Potentate or Uni-Mind Headdress, Mantle of the Mind Flayer or Pauldrons of the Solace-Giver or Spaulders of the Torn-heart, Masquerade Gown or Robes of the Elder Scribes, Coldwhisper Cord, Battlecast Pants or Pantaloons of Repentence, Gloves of Saintly Blessings or Handwraps of Flowing Thought. A mostly tailored blue partial set: Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders, Will of Edward the Odd or Frozen Shadoweave Vest (post 2.1.0), Frozen Shadoweave Boots. I'm hopeless when it comes to editting wikis, so I'm afraid I'm leaving you the grunt work.

Images

Please keep image thumbnails smaller than the text they're representing. Once we have a table they might be able to be bigger, but for now they can't be too big without making a mess of the article. RobertM525 04:41, 27 February 2007 (EST)

Feel free to use bigger images, everything is in a table now. Anarchie 10:47, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

While the tables are a very nice addition, having irregularly-sized thumbnails looks bad, IMO. We should probably keep the thumbnails to a fixed height of about 150 pixels. RobertM525 17:32, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

Regarding the Nemesis look-alike: The hand-covering part of the Gloves of the Deadwatcher may be purple, but the glove extends up to the character's elbow. Here are detail views of the (images have been deleted...). I hope that this is convincing evidence of the match. Anarchie 03:29, 18 March 2007 (EDT)

Missing Sets

I couldn't seem to find new colors for either the head or shoulders of the Prophecy, Felheart, or Dreadmist sets. I think it's more likely that the items aren't in the model viewer's items.csv file than that there are no such items in the game. The Whitemend helm looks like Prophecy, but I couldn't fill out the set. Anarchie 13:56, 17 March 2007 (EDT)

There are 5 items for the prophecy set in the BC. They are the 3 bop primal mooncloth tailoring recipes and the 2 whitemend recipes.
Thanks. They weren't in my trimmed items.csv because of their low numbers. Anarchie 15:11, 19 March 2007 (EDT)

Credits

Thanks go to the many Wowhead posters who contributed full details for several sets, including Might and Nightslayer. I've already forgotten the authors and the sets, but rest assured your work is appreciated. Anarchie 14:01, 17 March 2007 (EDT)

Second Dragon Stalker Alternate Image

I added an image for the second dragon stalker alternate. The quality isn't the best. I used wow model viewer. I am sure someone can create a much better image.

Mine looks good big but not small. It doesn't seem much bigger than the others. -Imperial

Warlock Sets

Are the Dungeon 1 and Tier 1 warlock look alikes missing because they don't exist or because they haven't been found yet? The Stormreaver Shadow-Kilt http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27418 looks like the Dungeon Set 1 legs I think.--ObiChad 14:17, 26 April 2007 (EDT)

Good observation. Sadly, a "set" of one piece doesn't really deserve a place here. See if you can find the hood, and then we're rolling. Anarchie 14:12, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Couple Missing Sets

I have an updated item list for my Model Viewer. I've catalogued quite a few, heres what i've gathered that needs to be added:

Blue Arcanist- (Chest, Will of Edward the Odd)(Belt, Coldwhisper Cord)(Boots, Frozen Shadowweave Boots)(Gloves, Everwarm Handwraps).

Purple Arcanist-(Head,Battlecast Hood)(Shoulder,Spaulders of the Torn Heart)(Chest, Robe of the Elder Scribes)(Legs, Battlecast Pants)(Boots, Silent Slippers of Meditation)(Gloves, Gloves of the Saintly Blessings)

Grey/Red Bloodfang- (Head,Stealther's Helm of Second Sight)(Shoulder,Forest Wind Shoulderpads)(Chest, Chestguard of the Conniver)(Legs, Earthsoul Leggings)(Boots,Edgewalker Longboots)(Gloves, Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation) yep, that's a healing set!

Red Dragonstalker- Although it was already listed, heres two things to be added-(Belt, Girdle of Fallen Stars)(Boots, Tempest-Strider Boots) got em, thanks

Also, to add to the list of look-alike models, I found some extras:

Dark Purple Dragonstalker-(Chest,Ebon Netherscale Chestpiece)(Belt, Ebon Netherscale Belt)(Bracers, Ebon Netherscale Bracers)(Legs, Scaled Greaves of the Marksman)

Gold/Green/Blue Beaststalker-(Chest, Netherstrike Breastplate)(Legs, Leggings of Beast Mastery)

Black/Purple Beaststalker- (Legs, Scaled Greaves of Patience)

Darkmantle?

I saw Chestguard of the Dark Stalker on someone tonight. Looks identical to the Darkmantle chest piece. Question is, are there more pieces to this? 'Cause Darkmantle was one of the coolest sets they've made, and if there's a look alike, I'd be all over there. I don't recall seeing any other Darkmantle-esque pieces when I was looking for the Shadowcraft look alike, though... RobertM525 05:14, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

Stats summary

Wondering if there should be seperate pages showing the stats for these sets. I did the Lightforge one for kicks;
+ 5115 armor
+148 Strength
+149 Stamina
+23 Agility
+126 Intellect
+4 Critical Strike Rating
+3 Spell Crit Rating
+16 hit rating
5 socket bonus
4 Blue Socket
6 Red Socket
3 Yellow Socket
+71 spell damage and healing
+28 mp/5

I don't really feel that these "sets" honor their own page. The only thing that makes them notable is that they're recolors of old equipment, which is what this page is for. Pzychotix 09:22, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Good point, was just being greedy I suppose. ;) I've done my homework, so at least I have something to work with. Cheers for all your work, guys! Fr0 08:55, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Matching look, different stats?

Asking about the Girdle of the Gale Storm. It appears to have the same color scheme with the other 4 pieces of Shaman D1 look alikes, despite having +healing instead of +damage. So I'm wonderings it really counts? --Kaziel 15:09, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

It's a world drop BoE, and its level requirement is about 7 levels above the rest of the set. I'd keep looking for a more level-appropriate match. Ack, thought you were referring to Girdle of Gale Force. I think Girdle of the Gale Storm is a good match! -Anarchie 19:40, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Problems with Raid Difficulty

For what I'm doing I've been categorizing epics as NORMAL which consists of Karazhan, Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair. I'm just having trouble with the next step (SSC and Eye), which only have some as recolors. I'm not sure if they should go in the same boxes or have their own, but I think some may end up having X or Y or Z due to Blizzard's laziness of graphic design. -Imperial

I've been splitting them up according to their stats. I went ahead and separated your Dragonstalker set into healing and DPS sets... you might want to go over the drop locations again. Once enough Tier-5/6-quality pieces have been found, we might need to split it further into two healing sets and two DPS sets according to the... difficulty of obtaining the second set. Anarchie 14:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

shadowcraft bracers

wouldnt it also make sense to mention Bracers of Finesse from Gargolmar in Hellfire Ramparts? They arent BoE and thus are easier to get for someone trying to make the complete set

Tier 5 Look-alikes

There are a few Tier 5 look-alikes to be found in SSC/TK - just about every non-set piece has been made a different colored model of a set-piece for one of the classes (ie. VR plate helm is a green version of the warrior T5 helm model). However, I don't believe the Gladiator sets should be listed as look-alikes, as it's common knowledge that all the gladiator sets are recoloured versions of the tier sets (S1 = T4, S2 = T5, S3 = T6). If this section is to be continued, I feel that all sets should be mentioned - though I don't think it should be continued at all, personally.

Set Look Alike Details Article Deletions

I posted a full message on PCJ's talk page concerning this issue, but is anyone else aware of the detail articles (links and pages) to each of these sets have been competely deleted? They were very useful, and at least some of them looked competed (Purpe Judgement Set Details in particular)? If this is an open wiki and people are using those articles (and it does not violate the rules, can we replace/repair the articles in question - more likely from scratch since they appear to have been wiped with no history, amazing for a wiki - ? I'm assuming, being a wiki, everyone has equal access with the exception of the owners/host ? CyberNigma (talk) 20:56, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

They can be restored by an admin (me); however, I'm not convinced they should be. --Pcj (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 20:58, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, ok. I didn't know you were the admin. I'll refrain from adding any constructive input here and keep it to your talk page CyberNigma (talk) 21:14, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Look alike in WotLK

Any look alike found in WotLK yet? Danleo (talk) 00:08, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

WotLK Sets

Newcomer to the general editing of wiki's here, but i am aware of three sets in Wrath that are re-colours of the Death Knight gear received upon exiting their starting instance, and a recoloured Shaman Tier 8 set. The Death Knight recolours are found in Naxxramas, and the Shaman recoloured set is found in Ulduar. I can provide links/pages to the exact pieces on wowhead or wowpedia, though i am hesitant to do so as i have never ventured far into editing wikipedia pages of any sort. If a more senior member would be willing to receive them and edit the page, i would be happy to provide the list of pages. -Erveron (talk) 01:00, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
