Is sap subject to hit rating? Can you miss a sap? --dieck

what does this do? (not in terms of game mechanics)

i'm confused as to what tis is supposed to do. garrote strangles the person, kick is kicking them in the balls, what is this? what can you do to a person hat makes them Incapacitated for a little while? hit them over the head with that blunt object shown on the icon?--Truckman1 06:44, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Hehe, yes, usually disorientation comes from being hit over the head with a blunt object. :) --Sky (t | c | w) 07:54, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
The only problem with that assumption is when you have 2 points in Dirty Tricks, since it gives Sap a 10 yard range; how the heck do you wack someone in the head from 10 yards away when you only have 2 little daggers?Felindre
Sap, to me, is probably one of the scariest experiences in PvP; you're suddenly sapped, and you never even had a chance to detect the Rogue. I can't help but think: "If you let me live, I'll let you take the flag." Then again, as a Rogue, it's pretty funny to Sap someone who's running by you; they skid for a few feet. Felindre
Sap is a common move to rogues, the weapon used is called a "Blackjack." Google "Blackjack Weapon" to see images. The icon in game depicts a rather deadly looking blackjack. It must be done from behind since you have to hit the back of the head and without alerting the victim. How exactly the range is increased by 10 yards I can not easily explain. Maybe it's the precursor to shadowstep? Lol. The interesting thing is that it requires a melee weapon, but technically does not use that weapon. Everry rogue should always have a blackjack on their belt.

More about sap

Sap can miss, it's happened to me before, whether or not hit rating affects it, I don't know. Another interesting fact is that once upon a time, sap would not flag you if you sapped an enemy player. Not sure when it was changed to flag you, but I remember sapping the level 70 players who were attacking Tarren Mill when I was a measly level 30 rogue. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zeneroth (talk · contr).
