Salamander is a better name. Should the title therefore be changed?

If they're called that in game, and if you're quite sure that's how they should be called, then yeah, the title should be changed. "Fire Naga" sounds like a stupid name to me for such an article. Straight up Fire Naga makes more sense than that. Schmidt 03:23, 1 Jan 2006 (EST)
The quotes are a definate No-No, I know that much... --  ℑilver§ℑide 03:38, 1 Jan 2006 (EST)
I recommend the title be changed to Salamander and that references to "fire naga" be removed. Further, I don't think that the Dark Iron Dwarfs became "fire naga" or Salamanders. Salamanders are creatures born of elemental fire (just seach google for them.) It makes much more sense for Rag's lieutentants to be creatures of elemental fire that he's ruled over since the dawn of time, rather than mortal beings that he corrupted "recently." I've not edited wiki pages before, so I didn't really think I should now without some other concurrence.
I feel I must diagree on this account I believe that these fire naga or salamanders or firewakers whatever you feel they should be called look to much like naga I mean the naga were a sentient race that were changed by the old gods and the fire lord the dark iron dwarves clan now serves is a general of sorts to the old gods so why shouldn't these creatures be made from this same dark power threw these dwarves? and therefore I believe until this theory has been completly disproven the picture on the origins of the races page mentioned below should be put back on. Check the Flamewaker page for the rebuttal and source link. -- Kirkburn 09:57, 19 June 2006 (EDT)
DJ, don't create new pages for this dicussion, link anything you want to show here. We know what they look like, by the way. -- Kirkburn 10:11, 19 June 2006 (EDT)
The "origin of the races" page will need to be changed as well. Origin of the races --Faeton
Why does that page need to be changed as well? Schmidt 21:47, 22 March 2006 (EST)
I guess he is refering to this image on the Origin of the races page. In this image it is implied that "Fire Naga" are descendants of Dark Iron dwarves.
By the way, as I have already explained here flamewakers and salamanders are not the same creatures. So the redirect should probably be removed. -- Foogray 11:45, 4 April 2006 (EDT)

Is the salamander a reptile?

It has come to my attention that most reptiles (with the exption of snakes) in the warcraft univers have six limbs. If the salamander is related to the Kodo, which is mammalian, then the salamander itself must be considered a mammal. Charred But Alive 09:50, 21 June 2006 (EDT)

The six legs thing is a convention, if even that much, not a rule. And the kodo connection has little bearing. After all, birds exhibit mammalian qualities, yet are descended from the Dinosauria class of reptiles. --Ragestorm 16:37, 21 June 2006 (EDT)
Kodo's are described as Reptilian in many places as well...Baggins 10:45, 11 July 2006 (EDT)
The salamander is probably related to the thunder lizard, which is reptilian. Xavius, the Satyr Lord (talk) 12:09, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Salamander and Flamewaker

If Flamewakers are not connected to Salamanders then why does the  [Cape of the Fire Salamander] drop from Ambassador Flamelash? Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 04:35, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Salamanders presumably of all types live in Firelands home of Ragnaros and Flamewakers.Baggins (talk) 04:41, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh okay so they are connected but not the same. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 04:51, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
They're not connected so much as they just live in the same place. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:38, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Well they are also connected due to Ambassador Flamelash dropping the  [Cape of the Fire Salamander]. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 02:26, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Which is to say not at all. Onyxia drops the Sapphiron Drape; are she and Sapphiron connected? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:07, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Aren't some bosses or creatures known to drop things that are related to them though like Illidan Stormrage? Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 02:11, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
And sometimes their loot has little or nothing to do with them, such as Prince Malchezaar dropping Gorehowl. Don't try to make connections that don't exist purely off of one piece of loot from one boss. It's about as effective as trying to translate game mechanics into lore. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 07:07, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
I thought it was a pretty fair connection myself since sometimes loot has a lot or everything to do with them.. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 07:11, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
