Resting

I guess it would be more correct to put this article as Resting rather than Rest, and the redirect would be the other way around. I know I could copy & paste, and I know this is minor... I don't know, it's not like I've spend too much time thinking on this as well. :P

This page states that if you are in the wilderness, you will accumulate "rested xp" at 25% the rate at which you would in an inn.

Penalties

The article mentions possible penalties to rest XP accumulation for having more than one character on an account and/or server. Where did this information come from? User:Montag/sig 14:20, 15 February 2007 (EST)

Rate of Accumulation

I think there are some minor details about accumulation rate which are not present and could be added to improve the document. The document states that 1 bar of rested XP is gained for every 8 hours spent resting, which is nearly the full story. I suspect, but do not know, that this means that when the "marker" traverses the end of one level and enters the next, the rate of rested XP accumulation is effectively increased. Thus if we have two identical characters, one who turns in a quest before logging off, and a second who turns the quest in after logging back on, the second may have earned less rested XP than the first.

If my hunch is correct, the clarifying detail is simply that the rate of continuous rested xp is dependent upon the "level" of the rested marker, or the current maximum rested XP. A very minor footnote but a niggly detail I'm curious about, myself, and came to wowwiki to resolve. JoshuaRodman 11:08, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Exploration XP

I've personally seen my XP bar go from blue (Rested) to purple (Normal) due to exploration XP. Can anyone confirm, and if so, can we edit the page to reflect this? Ripsaw 18:01 EST, November 19 2007

Accumulating percentage or absolute xp

Following on from the above comment, my empirical research suggests that Rested xp is accumulated as absolute xp, rather than a percentage.

To illustrate the point, consider a situation where the character has accumulated the full 150% Rest at L49. He then turns in a quest to reach L50 without consuming any Rested Bonus, the new value of Rest would be less than 150%, as the xp required to reach L51 is greater than 49 to 50. I have observed this, but have not been sufficiently rigorous about capturing values to add further detail to this theory.

Questions outstanding are around whether the rest is accumulated in proportion to the character's current level, or the position of the Rest marker, eg still visible in this level, in the next level or conceivably in the following level. arbster 17 March 2008

Rested bonus accumulating while doing battlegrounds?

Someone suggested it does, as you character is physically located at the battlemaster. Do or don't you gain rested xp during battlegrounds? --Nanobit (talk) 08:46, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Rate of XP @ Lv79

I don't know if I should put this on the page but @LV79 you get 14/3sec or 280/minute rested XP

Accumulation rate accurate?

I'm not sure the accumulation rate of rested exp is accurate. The text currently says that we accumulate one bubble (5%) per 8 hours logged off in a rested area, or about 10 days until accumulating the maximum 150% of a level rested. I have many alts and have the addon Altoholic which tracks how many days since I logged onto a character as well as a calculation of how much of the rested maximum has been accumulated. I believe Altoholic uses the same rate as in the Wiki text (5% of level / 8 hours logged off in a rested area) - after 10 days or so, the addon reports that the character is 100% rested, consistent with the Wiki text. However, upon logging in, after about 10 days to 2 weeks, the character is only around rested to around 105% of a level, only about 2/3 of the predicted amount. My characters are always in rested areas and this has occurred for a dozen or so alts that I've observed for the past few months. I don't have any Pandaren alts right now, so I have no observations with their faster resting rate. Niikto (talk) 18:56, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

This page hasn't been updated in years, it is probably out of date Xporc (talk) 09:24, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
