Talk:Rare

Recommend page should be moved or renamed to "Superior", as this is technically the term for rarity associated with blue items. I understand this may cause a lot of problems, but we all want this wiki to be the best and most accurate source of information available on the web. Warscythe 00:33, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

I beg to differ. From GlobalStrings.lua (the UI file that holds all the localized text displayed to the user):
ITEM_QUALITY0_DESC = "Poor";
ITEM_QUALITY1_DESC = "Common";
ITEM_QUALITY2_DESC = "Uncommon";
ITEM_QUALITY3_DESC = "Rare";
ITEM_QUALITY4_DESC = "Epic";
ITEM_QUALITY5_DESC = "Legendary";
ITEM_QUALITY6_DESC = "Artifact";
Or from the patch 2.3 notes... "/threshold Rare-sets the party loot threshold to Rare items or better quality". Also from the same notes... "All old world dungeons have had their loot revisited. Players will now find that all loot dropped inside instances will be of Superior quality." You'll notice that some of the changed items are not blue, seems to me that the implied meaning superior here is "of better quality than they were," not "Blue".
