Did the reasoning for "Old Horde" to be redirected to History_of_the_Horde#Notes come from the now non-canon Horde Player's Guide or a scene in Lord of the Clans that has Orgrim Doomhammer giving leadership of what was left of it to Thrall? Is the old Horde a separate entity called the Old Horde?--SWM2448 23:12, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- The capital O is just the style I chose to write the name in; if you think changing every mention to "old Horde" to improve the accuracy then that's fine. - The latter. I am fine with it, but there is a reason somewhere why they were merged. The RPG's take is non-canon, but the LotC (which I don't have and therefore should shut up about) interpretation, if correct, is still canon.--SWM2448 00:44, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
- In Lord of the Clans, Thrall makes a reference to "the old Horde" when talking about how he does things differently. As far as I know, "old Horde" hasn't been used anywhere else and "Old Horde" hasn't been used at all. The term "new Horde" has been used to differentiate Thrall's Horde from Orgrim's, and Garrosh's Horde from Thrall's, but that's like a U.S. citizen saying he's living in "a new America" when he gets a new president. The Horde had a clear line of succession from Orgrim to Thrall to Garrosh - it's the same organization, even if its members and policies have changed over time. - Time of disavow this mistake: I don't believe that two such different organizations are the same thing, specially because Thrall's statements to Daelin Proudmoore during A Blaze of Glory saying something like: "This Horde is not the same Horde that you fought interested in conquer and murder(...)". - Thrall's Horde wasn't "the same Horde" Daelin fought in the sense that it had different member races, and a different leader who enforced different policies, but that doesn't make it a completely new organization. - The WC3 manual says that Thrall was elected to be warchief. "He succeeded in rallying his people and freeing them from the human internment camps. When addressing the other orcs, Thrall said, "Orgrim Doomhammer has named me Warchief. It is a title I would not have sought, but I have no choice. I have been named, and so I will obey." The UVG refers to it as the "Old Horde" with Thrall leading "a new Horde." Also, "(Old) Horde" is used in the affiliation section of certain orcs. --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 18:52, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
