They were known as Makrura before WoW, they featured in Warcraft III. "Lobstrok" do not appear in Warcraft III, so there must be another reason for the name. -Mannerheim (talk · contr)

Leaders?

Why is Lord Angler shown as the leader of the Makrura?
I mean the leader should be in Mak'aru shouldent it? And do we have any proff that Lord Angler is the leader of the people? TerrorBlades (talk) 08:19, 21 December 2008 (UTC)Rogue

Agreed on that. The leader of Makrura is probably beneath the Maelstrom and is yet to be seen. Neltharion (talk) 18:25, 21 December 2008 (UTC))

Inspiration

Perhaps they are a reference to the Garthim from The Dark Crystal? We know Blizzard (most likely) referenced the movie later. User:Xavius/Signature 09:54, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

I had assumed they were inspired at least in part from the Macra, but that my be due to my (mis)pronunciation of the name "makrura". There might be some Dungeons & Dragons monster...--SWM2448 23:11, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
