Fear not so good

I changed the holy priest section just a bit - fear is a bad idea, and I won't recommend it for neither priests nor warlocks. The demon just goes out of LoS and can't be smited. JaneLame 11:35, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Blind?

All Demon Hunters are blind, so yes. However, they gain a different form of sight which allows them to see demons more clearly. Demon Hunter (link for your reference). Pzychotix 20:50, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

The quest that sends you to Altruis to defeat Varedis has Altruis mention out of the 5 blood elves Kael sent to be trained 3 died, 1 went mad and 1 succeeded which was Varedis. More then likely Leotheras is the one that went insane. Leviathon 07:43, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Since this is the case, why is he being restrained under the jurisdiction of Vashj? Kael should have more knowledge about the mentality of blood elves at least, and it was after all he who ordered their training. On top of that, Kael has sided with the Burning Legion, making him Vashj's enemy. The only reason i can discern is that very reason, that Kael wants Illidan to believe that they are still allies, by sending Leotheras to Vashj, who is still loyal to Illidan. Besides, being a Demon Hunter himself, Illidan should probably know more about restricting Demon Hunters and their inner demons. Hydrahypnotizer 21:33, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Chronically, Kael'thas allied with the Legion after players killed his master, Illidan. Leotheras was given to illidan when he and his lieutenants were still alive...but after that leotheras died, vashj too, kael'thas was defeated the first time, akama betrayed illidan and we killed him: kael found himself alone and allied with kil'jaeden. Vashj has died, so she doesn't care of wath kael is doing

This is a whole speculation!!! Any source (for example) about Kael alliance with the Legion after Illidan's death? On the other hand there is a pletora of quests about the allegiance being born while Illidan still lives. --N'Nanz 13:10, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Tank

You recommend a prot pally, but recently we've found that a druid tank works better. Get the bear to put mangle on Leo. The bleed was generating enough threat to have him head back towards the tank after whirlwinds. 7-8 healers?

Realistically, there should be soul stones and brezes available. The fight is doable with only 5-6 healers. Even in the worst case scenario described, that would leave at most, two healers down at a time, who are easily ressable. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Radioislegit (talk · contr).

His power

According to Altruis, there were five Blood Elves being trained as Demon Hunters by Illidan. Three died, one went insane (Leotheras) and one succeded (Varedis). If Varedis is so powerful and successful, how come he can easily be taken down by a group of five people, when the unsuccessful Leotheras requires 25 people? Maybe Leotheras's inner demon was too strong and broke his sanity. Another note is that the  [Book of Fel Names] is used to weaken Varedis in the fight. -- Raze 06:12, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Updates

I've cleaned up the page a bit, so that the abilities and phases are properly listed. Since the current page is no longer plagiarizing the strategy available from BossKillers, I've also taken down the 'removed copied strat info' warning that was at the top of the page.

I have not personally done this fight, so I used the timing info available from BigWigs' module for Leotheras. Yay open-source info sharing!

"Shimmying"?

I've heard it suggested that rapidly strafing back and forth (shimmying) will make him drop target faster when he's whirlwinding. However, searching here, Alla, Thott, Bosskillers, and Wowhead has turned up not one word about it. Has any one else heard about this? Vithigar 20:32, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

I highly doubt that Leotheras would function in such a way because a player was "shimmying". Note that he can change targets pretty rapidly sometimes, and rather than feeling like a fool and "shimmying" players should stick to the normal plan and gtfo if he's targeting you or someone near you while whirlwinding. If it does show some accuracy, I would find it overcomplicating the fight. I'll put SOME investigation into this... lol. --Furi, January 03, 2008.

The other threat wipe

I can't seem to find any mention of Leo wiping threat when he transitions between forms. Is it not there, or am I just missing it?

Restoration?!?

Restoration Shaman: Keep Lightning Shield active. Do not try to melee DPS the Demon, instead use Chain Lightning and Lightning Bolt. Keep a Searing Totem up. Use Earth Shock to interrupt Shadow Bolts.

<Edit - I understand now :P> Lightning bolt FTW - tho interrupts on casting can hurt which is why chain lightning (its a faster cast) is good to use whenever you can. Use Earth Shock EVERY time the cooldown is up - more important to DPS than interrupt damage (other healers should cover you, and the 2 sec lock is mostly taken up by the global cooldown). I found it very hard to take out the demon tbh :/ Edit: I would be interested to hear if anyone has thoughts on using some spell dmg gear instead of healing gear. If the fight is going well (haha!) then there is not that much healing needed so its more a case of making sure you can kill your demon over extreme healing gear.

Whirlwind Targeting

During a Whirlwind, Leotheras targets his victim. If that person runs away fast and far enough, he will deaggro and whirl towards someone else.

Given that Leo moves much faster than the person he's targeting, I suspect he just switches targets rapidly, regardless of what the target does. Does anyone have any evidence that moving actually makes a difference? If not, perhaps we should change the main page to say something like "Move away to avoid whirlwind damage", and delete the reference to it having any effect on targeting. From what I've experienced, doing damage during the whirlwind makes it more likely for him to target you for that few seconds before he swaps to someone else. I believe he just resets the threat-table every few seconds while whirlwinding. WT (talk) 20:55, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Demon form

Is it his demon form that's called Shadow of Leotheras? and is Phantom Leotheras the npc-model he is while being channeled by those broken? I've never seen him myself, so im only guess out from images. TherasTaneel (talk) 23:45, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
