Since Starlight has removed the text again, I would like to say that one day we will wake up and the text will be gone from official site.

In this case, we'll just as easily be able to pull it back from the page history. Whether this implies that there's a reason to do a weird add/remove shuffle on future content is debatable, but not particularly interesting.

Here's the thing: I don't think that it's a good idea to use wowpedia articles to duplicate every bit of content ever published by Blizzard verbatim, just in case it ever happens to disappear from the internet. Articles with minimal content, and a "DO NOT EDIT THIS ARTICLE" tag do not strike me as particularly wiki-like, and are probably not what anyone would want to read -- the official website/PDF versions are in many ways superior to the text on the wiki from a reader's perspective. To me, it seems like while the originals are up, articles quoting the thing in its entirety are undesirable -- they would be better off presenting a short summary of each story.

So, to summarize: I think quoting the stories verbatim makes for crappy encyclopedia articles. The concern about preserving text is legitimate, but for the articles in question, it'll remain in the page history, so we're not losing anything from the removal. It's probably worth discussing how much of Blizzard's published content we'd want to archive (all of the community website? just the good stuff? what is the good stuff? blue posts? watercooler discussions? just the lore? what if they back away from the lore?), and how best to preserve it without inserting "DO NOT EDIT" tags all over the wiki. — foxlit (talk) 18:27, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

I would just like to point out that reposting all of the short stories onto this site is also technically copyright infringement, especially since they are available for download/viewing at the source. Reproducing it wholesale without Blizzard's consent may land Wowpedia in some legal trouble, as that would violate the fair use premise this wiki runs on. Excerpts are fine, as those fall under fair use, but reproducing the whole thing? Not so much. StarNeptune (talk) 23:44, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Well, the copyright article says:

Blizzard gives express permission to reproduce certain material on fansites.[1] This includes:

- Material downloaded from their website.

- Screenshots of their games.
