The tenses do not match between paragraphs. They both "are" or both "were", please.

On a different issue, I have a difficult time critiquing this article as Lore. However, the terms 'lance' and 'lancer' both have current interpretations outside lore, that coincide with the way the terms are use IN lore. I suggest that describing the lance with lore references is unnecessary unless it differs from real world usage and understanding. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:32, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm inclined to agree. I think this article should be more along the lines of Sword or Axe, focusing primarily on game mechanics since (as Eirik pointed out) lances in WoW are exactly like lances in real life. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:36, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
I disagree, I think it should be kept. Although it has the same usage in real life than in WoW it is correctly cited. We may not be allowed to make an article of an object of the real life that is identical in the Warcraft Universe without sources, but if it's correctly cited it should stay. Personally, I think that's rather ridiculous. We don't need to cite sources that there are lances in WoW and that they're used exactly like we would expect lances to be used. It's like Wookiepedia's article on cheekbones. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 00:41, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
I've added links to the databases, this way people can see more lances and added that Sargeras have a lance. I think this should stay as many articles like this are already on the wiki: Category:World of Warcraft weapon items. They seem fine as they are cited correctly and there are many items in WoW that refers to that weapon. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 01:17, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm not saying there shouldn't be an article on lances. I'm saying there shouldn't be a lore article on lances, because it's pointless. Keep the focus on gameplay. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 01:40, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

The database link shows that a) there is currently only one other item named 'lance' in WoW (but many named "vigilance" or "balance", and one glyph...). b) there MAY be more coming with 3.2, but currently only placeholders exist.

I have no particular objection to lore citations as such. On this page (and for all I know, those others referred to), it seems the citations are being used to define "what a lance is, and what it is used for", as opposed to saying "it appears in the warcraft universe in the same role as in the real world." --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:52, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
