If I'm not mistaken, crafted wands can be disenchanted.

Not if they are crafted by the Enchanting Skill. Otherwise there'd be the possibility of enchanting an item, disenchanting and then enchanting again and you'd be able to skill up without using any resources. If there are items you can craft made by other professions, they made well be disenchantable.

Why does Thott bot list "disenchants into" information for a lot of items which this article says are not disenchantable (lockboxes for example)? Did these items used to be disenchantable in an earlier patch, or is there some other reason?

Way back in Beta, disenchanting worked differently. You could disenchant a wider range of items, and they didn't always produce the dusts, essences, and shards we know and love today. By the time WoW went live this had changed. But thott never properly updates it's data, so many of its drop rates and NPC locations are off. As far as lockboxes go, I think there was an error in the way that Thott interpreted the opening of the boxes, and marked the items retrieved as "disenchanted from" instead of "found in". However, that has been adjusted and there is now a category for "Contains" under all lock boxes. --Mikaka 19:13, 1 December 2006 (EST)

I'll have to do some more testing, but all the "level required: 64" items I have DEd gave me Small Prismatic Shards. So I think the levels are off by one there.--Stfrn 21:09, 12 February 2007 (EST)

2.2 Disenchant icon

INV Enchant Disenchant.png

On PTR the Disenchant Icon has been replaced by a new icon, i have uploaded it and is leaving a note here so that it may be replaced when 2.2 goes live. Fiskert/c  08:18, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Incorrect Info

I believe the table to be incorrect. I have a low level twink enchanter and found that when my skill was high enough according to the table I could not disenchant the items it said I should be able to. Also I think the table should be the other way around. The item level bands on the left and the minimum enchanting skill required on the right. The implication from the current layout and wording above it is that players of a given skill can ONLY disenchant items of a given range. Timb0h 14:02, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

The levels for disenchanting are DEFINITELY wrong as of today. I have 145 skill and can't disenchant anything above level 40. I'm changing the upper limit for that level to match reality, but the rest of the table is presumably screwed up as well. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Maroci (talk · contr).

Are you certain your are looking at the item's iLevel and not the Required level? There is a 5-level difference between the two levels. User:Tekkub/Sig 21:31, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
It appears you are looking at required level, not iLevel. Example: [1] I'm going to adjust the table to cover both numbers, since iLevel confuses people. User:Tekkub/Sig 21:37, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Can a clarifying statement be made for the table explaining whether the center 'level' list is for the minimum level item requirement, or the level that the character needs to be before he can dis-enchant the item? I would make the edit myself, but I'm not sure what the answer is. zwolf (talk · contr)

BoEquip items too?

does anybody know if I can disenchant blue Soulbound maces from my client?? (both maces taken from quest, dark iron king(BOP), and looted)--Andersmusician$ 13:08, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I can't tell what you're asking here, but I figure this'll probably cover it: You can disenchant any item that you have in your inventory, with the exception of rep and PvP rewards. You cannot disenchant items soulbound to other people, nor can you disenchant anything via the Do Not Trade slot in the trade window. -- Dark T Zeratul 22:08, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
hey that helped a lot! thanks zeratul --Andersmusician$ 22:05, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Skilling up with disenchanting

I just got skill 61 from disenchanting. So it can go higher than 60.

edit: ooooh. nm. Forgot that Belfs get +10 Ench. :P

Legendary

I am sure no one would want to, but why isn't legendary stuff disenchantable? Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 08:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

I dunno. Maybe they're so powerful they resist destruction by mortal means? You'd have to ask Blizzard for the why, all we know is that it isn't. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 09:27, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
