Primal forces

Tagging. I'm fairly certain that the primal forces of nature from Knaak's War of the Ancients (novel account) are outright said to be demigods. --Sky (t · c · w) 06:47, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, found it. Page 187+ of The Sundering. --Sky (t · c · w) 06:55, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Azshara, Xavius, Titans, and the Elemental Lords

While they're certainly quite powerful, can anyone provide sources as to their demigodhood? Especially the Titans, given how frequently and explicitly they are said NOT to be gods. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:01, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Deities

Moved from User talk:Coobra

I'm trying to improve the Eternal and Demigod, but i'm constantly thwarted because both pages have almost the same thing, and it doesn't help that blizzard uses very blurrly lines when apllying it, could we just tone it down to one page? possibly something like just the eternal Page or "Eternal and Demigods" or Eternal, Demigods and Supposed Deities, or deities because the way it's presented creates lot of duplication, and outdated information--Ashbear160 (talk) 01:03, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Demigod is a very specific term, and Eternal is a more general term. They're different terms and don't necessarily refer to the same thing. There is no reason to needlessly combine the pages. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 01:12, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Not it's not blizzard uses it like wild apes, i'm just saying instead of having duplicated pages due to names that may or not be applied in the same situation, use one page for all types of eternals, deities, demigods and supposed deities, because otherwise it's going to get messy(already is), outdated(already is) and duplicated(which also already is)--Ashbear160 (talk) 01:41, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
...So you're saying that because some things are similar, if someone's looking for information on one of those things, they should be directed to a page with information on all of them instead of just what they're looking for? No. Combining pages because there's some overlap between them is a terrible idea. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 01:59, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Except they state the exact same thing, and it's not some overlap, the only ones that aren't on the eternal page is the gronn and the vashjir ancients and the pages are already linked, because they often get confused.--Ashbear160 (talk) 02:08, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Alright, let me put it this way. Demigods are a specific group of beings. Elementals are a specific group of beings. Deities are a specific group of beings. While there may be some overlap in these categories, they should absolutely not be combined because they are not necessarily the same thing. Most of the beings in these categories are also Eternals. However, there are also Eternals that do not fall under these categories. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to combine these pages, at all, ever, period. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 03:07, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
I gave you 3 reasons, and as far i'm aware 3 reasons are not 0 reasons, there's a mess that must be solved and denying isn't going to help.--Ashbear160 (talk) 14:36, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Besides the definition of eternal is demigod-like being, so by definition all eternals are demigods or higher--Ashbear160 (talk) 14:56, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
or a new page which is a list with all types of deities, demigods ,and supposed deities, whatever fills your goat--Ashbear160 (talk) 16:19, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Can you cite your definitions of those terms? Also, I would prefer multiple pages with cite-able redundancy over haphazardly shoving things together.--SWM2448 21:04, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Just one page with a list of eternals, gods, demigods, worshipped like gods, called gods or false gods, and everything that is close to be considered a god/the remainder of the list in one list, it doesn't be complex or anything, maybe a "List of Objects/Characters of Worship".--Ashbear160 (talk) 21:23, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Still, it seems that Dark T Zeratul and I disagree with your solution.--SWM2448 21:32, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't need to substitute or fuse those page right now or touch them at all i just need ONE list which can make some sense of all this deific mess blizzard made.--Ashbear160 (talk) 21:37, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Am i prohibited of making such list if i don't touch the rest of the pages?--Ashbear160 (talk) 21:39, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
You can do whatever you want in your own sandbox.--SWM2448 21:46, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
I planned of linking to it later...--Ashbear160 (talk) 21:59, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Differentiation

Would anyone know the actual difference between a demigod, a god, and an eternal ? What exactly sets them apart ? There are references to demigods being godlike beings for example, but what's the difference exactly ? Where does the "like" come from ? I fail to see how different these beings are. To me it seems like they're all the same. Specially since Chronicle redefined the demigods of the Elves (the Ancient) and of the Trolls (the Loa) as Wild Gods (so now they're gods, and not demigods). --ShellShockLive (talk) 23:37, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

The most relevant information on gods and demigods can be found at The Warcraft Encyclopedia/Gods and The Warcraft Encyclopedia/Demigods. Eternal is exclusively an RPG term and isn't canon. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:39, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
So, after reading that, no difference. This information is also a bit out of date as it cites the deaths of Ancients during the WotA and Cenarius during the Orcish invasions, but we now know that they in fact didn't truly die, they just reformed in the Dream. Also, question : can this source really be considered a source ? Because it no longer officially exists. ShellShockLive (talk) 23:48, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
Loreology said it was still canon even though it didn't survive the overhaul to the official website. There was never a definition to distinguish between gods and demigods. The only way to tell who was a god was because Blizzard stated it was a god. --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 23:59, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
