Patch 4.3.0

Lets keep from changing this article based off of the preview... we still have a while before the patch happens and "updating" this article will only lead to confusion to how the current event is being done compared to a preview of things to come.

It's likely this article (being of the faction/event) will be moved to Darkmoon Faire (faction) and the Darkmoon Faire will become the location/subzone article, which may contain the games, entertainment, purchases, etc, while the faction article will contain the rep information and most likely the quests. At the end of the week, when the event is over (live side), I'll be moving this outdated article to Darkmoon Faire (Classic) and moving User:Coobra/Darkmoon Faire (subzone) in its place... unless there's no reason to preserve the old, in which case the overhaul can just be moved ontop of the old. I assume that the "subzone" article is going to be moved to the main article, no? That leaves it to what content the Darkmoon Island will have. --g0urra[T҂C] 07:46, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Besides the standard zone info, probably not much, since the faire takes up like 75% of the island. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 21:14, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Event / town duality

Darkmoon welcome.jpg
Duration 1 week each month
Currency [Darkmoon Prize Ticket]
Boss Moonfang & the Darkmoon Rabbit
Highlights Sideshows, profession quests, carousel, Darkmoon Deathmatch

Obviously the Darkmoon Faire has become a permanent town of sorts, so the current infobox is appropriate. However, it's still an event (and it was an event first!), and I feel like the top boxes should recognize that - especially since the {{Events}} template sits at the bottom of the page. Is it frowned upon to also include an {{Infobox event}} at the top? Every field but the before and after (being a non-annual event) is filled in, which I think speaks to its relevance, though the one that seems most critical is "duration", which clues newbies in to the fact that this place is not accessible all the time. In fact, I find it much more relevant than half of the town box - the Faire is much more defined by its use of prize tickets than by the fact that there's an anvil there.

To the right you'll see what it would look like, minus the image - I used a placeholder because I don't have the link on me, but I know there's a nice event banner out there in the exact same style as the other world events. Unfortunately I know that because it's on that other Warcraft wiki, and I would hate to take material from that accursed place. So if anyone's good at tracking images down... In this instance I also left out the name, which we could put in or not depending on how redundant it is wherever the box is placed.

Anyway, that box is nice and small, but informative; I think it would fit nicely right before or after the {{Infobox town}}. Yes, this isn't standard, but that's because no other event IS a specific location. The alternative seems to me to be getting some of those fields into the current infobox, and I don't know enough about wiki language to know if that makes sense. Thoughts? - jerodast (talk) 19:23, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Coobra stuck some of this info into the existing infobox - thanks! I still think the character of the Faire is more defined by being an event than by being a town, and for example "currency" much better describes Prize Tickets than "resources", but I suppose this will suffice :/ - jerodast (talk) 21:02, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

TCG image

The caption for the TCG image says it's of the DMF in Elwynn. If that's true, it should not appear on the "new" Faire article, only the original one. I don't know enough about the TCG to verify the context of that image though, and if that was just a drawing of the faire in general, I'd say it's fine to leave in. Would love if a TCG-friendly editor could check that out. - jerodast (talk) 19:31, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Template (banner-style)?

Is there a template for the top of related pages akin to those for other World Events (like it or not, this is a world event, dammit)? It's not listed on {{WorldEvent}}; there really should be one. - jerodast (talk) 21:08, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
