Travel to Borean Tundra

Noticed on IGN last week 3 videos in the Wrath of the Lich King section which featured them going around the zones looking at things. In the Borean Tundra it showed a boat coming up to a small Alliance town on the coast and a zeppelin pulling into Warsong Hold. Course for some reason both those videos have since been removed from IGN for a few days now. Gamespot had one of the videos and found the other one uploaded to Youtube. http://www.gamespot.com/video/942519/6176194/world-of-warcraft-wrath-of-the-lich-king-official-movie-1 Boat is near the end http://youtube.com/watch?v=vd5gpWV3WZI Zepellin at around 1:05 inside the base. So, they plan on making both Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra into major ports. I suppose it makes sense, seeing as there are supposed to be two starter areas instead of just one...I wonder what the connection points will be? It's already clear that there will be transportation to Howling Fjord: a zeppelin from Tirisfal to Vengeance Landing, and a boat from...somewhere (though the BlizzCon preview showed it in Auberdine, I still think it might be Menethil, if only because - like Tirisfal - it's in the Eastern Kingdoms, and the route is headed in the same direction) to Valgarde. Will Orgrimmar's tower get a remodel, I wonder...and maybe Auberdine will be the port to Borean Tundra instead? --Joshmaul 07:50, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
We already know its Auberdine -> Valgarde for Alliance in Howling Fjord and for Horde Undercity -> Vengeance Landing. So I would imagine the other horde Zeppelin would be at Orgrimmar and the other Alliance boat to be at Menethil so there are entrances on both continents for both factions. Course that can be switched around. Leviathon 16:04, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
The Auberdine --> Valgarde link is temporary for the test realms. User:Kirkburn/Sig3 21:04, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Either way currently the Alliance use boats for both areas and horde use Zeppelins for both areas. Things like that tend not to change too much just like zone layouts. Course I would see them using Theramore instead of Auberdine in the end since it has more room on its dock. Leviathon 21:25, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
  • More like travel from: Is River's Heart in Sholazar Basin faction based? The fligh path from the gnome town is based on facts, but I am not sure about the Horde outpost connecting to it either.--Afaslizo (talk) 14:29, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Map deciphering

Help me interpret more subzones by checking out this map (design layout):

What I could read so far, I've captioned.

That Alliance Village is Justice Keep. The Neautral Town east of Coldarra looks like it says Red Dragonflight. Leviathon 13:13, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

The neutral town is that gnome airstrip town I believe. --  Shandris  talk / contribs 13:27, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
The Gnomish Town is the blue town above the neutral town. The way to decipher the 4 maps Blizzard gave at Blizzcon is like this: Red square areas are Horde towns, Blue Square areas are Alliance towns, White square areas are neutral towns, Green dots mark instance areas, and Yellow squares are mob camps

Where is the information about a supposed Gnome town coming from? Not that I'm not for it or anything, but I haven't heard a thing about it yet. --Pure.Wasted 07:54, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
It was shown in the trailer, and briefly described at Blizzcon. Kirkburn  talk  contr 11:47, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

The green dot is 'The Nexus', the gap between coldarra says 'The Westrift'. Duh. The Alliance port is Justice keep?--SWM2448 19:26, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

The small lake says 'Lake' :P. Also, I believe the town on the east side of the Mineral Pools says "Horde village (Winter taurens)". Southeast of Kaskala is "Destroyed tuskarr camps", and the same is on the southwest coast between the two yellow squares, and north of the northern yellow square. The nearby red square reads Hord town (Orc fortress). --Varghedin
I've updated with captions. Anyone got more? --  Shandris  talk / contribs 22:52, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

For "Alliance Village (???)", it says "Alliance Village (Humans)". User:KanaruThis is me.User:KanaruI am the sexiest Dwarf ever.User talk:KanaruIf you disagree, click here. 19:54, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Rhinos

Rhinos live here.[1] Do you think they mean/saw Mammoths?--SWM2448 01:47, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Shoveltusks would be my guess. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 09:30, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

...Rhinoceros exist in the RPG... However I'm thinking shoveltusks are more likely. Though I'm intrigued by the rumors of mammoths showing up.Baggins (talk) 09:41, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Judging by how the Taunka buildings in Icemist look I would imagine we will see mammoths.

Updated

The page has been updated to the present tense, and now uses more current information in those sections relating directly to the ingame zone as it currently appears.

"The" Borean Tundra

Please can we have no more information regarding this zone as "the" Borean Tundra. The game regards it as "Borean Tundra" and does not require the "the". Thanks :-) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tnttodda (talk · contr).

And in LoM it's The Borean Tundra. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 17:34, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
With good reason. As I described in my edit comment...
  • "Borean" is an adjective
  • "Tundra" is a noun describing a type of terrain.
  • "borean tundra" is still a generic description for a type of terrain.
Thus, The Borean Tundra describes a particular area of that type of terrain. A Zone, for instance. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:42, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
