The clones

While it's obvious from the video currently linked that continuing to focus on the real Baltharus is perfectly legitimate method of downing him, my guild ran with different information on the 25 man run which was to take down the copy then return to the boss. 2 copies at least were made on that fight which poses the question whether less geared groups to consider killing the copy(s) if they are unable to take down Baltharus before more copies are made. This is assuming Baltharus will actually make more copies with one up.

I also remember reading (I think that was here) that an offtank should stand at max taunt range and taunt Baltharus when he Whirlwinds to have him hit air for a chunk of it and MT can taunt him back anytime, preferaby after the 50% mark. Obviously, if a copy is up, it's an exchange a la Four Horseman. This is, again, a strategy for the lesser geared. Kind of like back in the days of kiting Anub'Rekhan around his chamber avoiding Locust Swarm. Rei-gouki (talk) 16:32, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

While you COULD take down the copy first and then kill the boss, the question is why would you? If you kill the copy first, you effectively have to kill it twice. If you kill the boss first, the copy despawns. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 16:35, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
Certainly wouldn't if we could. I think the information source we had expected more than one copy being made regardless of whether one was up leading to eventually being flooded with Baltharuses hence it said to take down the copy then back on the boss. Or was just plain referring to something that didn't transfer from the PTR to live. Unless the copy does more than just... well... copy on the OT, there's no reason to take it down in preference to the real boss as the copy is copied with the same HP remaining as the boss when it occurs IIRC. Okay, just did it again on 25s. Baltharus does clone himself even if there is a clone up. I didn't pay attention to the HP so am uncertain if he does it at specific HP levels as suggested by the strat currently on the main page or if there's a timer on it. I do remember that the HP was a little over 7 million for the first clone and over 3 million for the second clone. You could use the 11 million for 25s on the main page as a reference and infer 66% and 33% cloning but it's still just a guess without more information. Our raid didn't have more than 2 clones for the fight, but we expect to have 3 tanks in the future to have no more than 1 Baltharus per tank. The main concept to DPS down the real Baltharus is still golden so there is no real hurry to polish this page. Rei-gouki (talk) 14:00, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
Managed to get in on a 10s. Baltharus clones himself at 50% as stated. However, with the observations on 25s, I'm gonna add some notes to mention it. Also, Repelling Wave was cast just before cloning on the 10s and he did do so consistently, at least on the run I was on so I'll make the mention of that in the edit.
