Function requirements?

Does anyone know the specific requirements to this function? For some reason, I can't use it in combination with the Chronos Add-on, to, let's say, periodically cast a self-buff. Just doesn't do anything. When I use it 'manually' using the /script command, it doesn't work. It only works when I put it as a /script command in a macro. Any ideas?

Looks like Blizzard made it so that it can only be used when it's called through clicking a button (or a macro), to prevent people from creating buffbot scripts.
