Spirit Festival
The Spirit Festival is an annual festival celebrated by the pandaren of the Wandering Isle to honor the memory of Liu Lang,[1] as well as the four elemental spirits of the Wandering Isle: Dafeng, Huo, Wugou, and Shu.[2] It is considered the most important celebration of the year.[1] It is traditionally held in Wu-Song Village.[3]
History
During one year's festival, the lineup included a musical number by Strongbo's pandowan students. One of the participants was Li Li Stormstout, who ruined the event by falling asleep behind the curtains, to the embarrassment of her father Chon Po. This led to an argument between Li Li and her father in which she argued that the festival was just a show to the people of the Wandering Isle and that they had forgotten the true lessons of Liu Lang, in turn leading to Chon Po forbidding Li Li from entering the island's library and Li Li running off to find her uncle Chen.[1]
Over the years, participation in the Spirit Festival had dwindled. Chon Po Stormstout decided that if the festival in 42 ADP was to be the last one then he would accept that, but he was still determined to see it happen.[3] Many pandaren who had left the Wandering Isle to go on adventures, including Li Li, Chen, Ji Firepaw, and Aysa Cloudsinger, returned home for the party. During the festival Shen-zin Su at long last returned home to the waters near Pandaria, and the Wandering Isle citizens were greeted by Lorewalker Cho and Yu'lon.[4]
