A snowman (modern model).

Snowmen are animated snow sculptures that look like three snowballs of varying size stacked on top of each other. Their "heads" feature bits of coal in the shape of eyes and eyebrows, carrots for noses, top hats, and scarves, while their "torsos" have coal buttons and twigs for arms. At least a few snowmen are living elementals,[1][2] but most seem to be either static constructs conjured by magic[3][4] or people wearing disguises[5][6] rather than living beings in their own right.

Greatfather Winter has loyal troops of snowmen who accompany him on his journeys across Azeroth. During the Feast of Winter Veil, they can be found wandering around Ironforge and Orgrimmar, bringing the "chill breath of winter" into even the warmest climates.[7][8] Living snowmen can melt after Winter Veil, but they come back each year.[1] After one of their employees got frozen in the form of a snowman by the Abominable Greench, Smokywood Pastures developed novelty devices to turn people into snowmen.[9] Snowmen are on display in the Giant Snow Globes that they set up in Ironforge and Orgrimmar during Winter Veil.

Some tuskarr children build inanimate snowmen as a pastime.[10][11] Normal snow elementals are sometimes likened to snowmen,[12] but unlike them do not appreciate having carrots stuck in their faces.[13]

Build a Snowman, a mage spell from the Fractured in Alterac Valley expansion, summons increasingly powerful elemental snowmen with each use: Snowman, Snowbrute, and lastly Snowgre. Rather than carrot noses, they have carrots lodged in their mouths to look like tusks, causing them to resemble an orc, troll, and two-headed ogre respectively.

Thrall, the shaman hero, has an alternate Snowman Thrall skin which depicts him using elemental magic to create an animated snowman.
