Rexxar is the main character of the campaign The Founding of Durotar. Throughout the story of the campaign, various heroes and units can or will temporarily join him to help out in the quests he is given. Rokhan, Chen, and Cairne are three permanent additions to his party. Their levels are capped at fifteen instead of ten and they have the attribute ability which gives up to +12 for all stats at level four. If certain optional quests are completed, all the heroes with the exception of Cairne will be able to max out all five of their abilities.

Differences to the Base Hero Beastmaster

- Unique to the Founding of Durotar, Rexxar also possesses a ground to air ranged attack unlike the regular Beastmaster. He will throw axes against aerial units for the same base damage as his ground based attack. Therefore in the early game, he does not require an additional orb to attack aerial targets.

- Misha, unlike the bear summons from regular beastmaster, is a stronger, permanent version of the summon with no set duration. Summoning Misha again will replace the existing unit on the field.

- Rexxar also carries the [Storm Bolt] active spell instead of the Hawk Summon, giving him the ability to stun key targets while dealing significant damage.
