Purify is a very useful Paladin ability early on, since it can cure both diseases and poisons quickly.

Tips and tricks
At higher levels, this spell is upgraded to 
[Cleanse]. There is no reason to use Purify after gaining Cleanse, as they have the same mana cost. There is one exception: if you or someone else is afflicted by 
[Unstable Affliction] from a warlock, Purify can be used to safely remove any poisons or diseases without risking the damage from dispelling the Unstable Affliction.
Patch changes
Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Removed. 
Patch 2.3.0 (2007-11-13): [Cleanse] and Purify range increased to 40 yards. 
Patch 1.1.1 (2004-11-17): Moved to level 8. - Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Mana cost increased.
Patch 0.6 (2004-04-13): The ranges for Purify and Cleanse have increased.
