Mythic creatures

This article concerns mythic creatures that have been referenced in Warcraft sources but which have no lore describing their existence as actual races.

Cockatrice

The presence of a Pygmy Cockatrice implies the existence of a larger Cockatrice creature, which has yet to be seen.

• Considering that the pygmy cockatrice seen in the Darkmoon Island uses the model of a bush chicken instead of the more reptilian creature from real-life mythology, it could itself be a fake meant to dupe visitors.
• During The Burning Crusade beta, Hawkstriders were called cockatrices. The name was changed prior to release.

Gremlin

Gremlins are mentioned in Night of the Dragon, "Foul little gremlins!"

Tikbalang

Tikbalangs appear to be a creature that Griftah made up.
