A lok'vadnod is a prestigious shout-song composed by the orcs to immortalize the life of a hero.[1] When Cairne Bloodhoof told Garrosh Hellscream that he didn't think the orc would want one that soon, Garrosh replied "Whenever death comes, I will meet it proudly", implying that the lok'vadnod are composed after the tale of a hero is finished, when they die.[2] It is not known how many non-orcs in total have been honored with a lok'vadnod, but to date, only one human has been granted one: Taretha Foxton, the childhood friend of Warchief Thrall.[1]
Recipients
- Taretha Foxton[1]
- Garrosh Hellscream was planning to have one.[2]
- All those who died during the war against the Lich King were to receive one, including Dranosh Saurfang.[2]
Film universe
After Kurvorsh is killed during the battle in Elwynn Forest, Durotan decides that he will sing a lok'vadnod for him.[3]
Notes
- Lok'vadnods can be heard from the Broken Tusk inn in Orgrimmar.[4]
- Durak enjoys lok'vadnods. His father Thrall believes that this reflects Durak being on the edge of adulthood and yearning to be a hero.[5]
- After Broxigar's death during the War of the Ancients, Krasus, disguised as an orc shaman, delivered the news of Broxigar's death to Thrall in Orgrimmar and asked him to sing songs of Broxigar,[6] likely referring to lok'vadnods.
- Oronok Torn-heart promised to write a "song of honor" in the name of adventurers who helped him recover the Cipher of Damnation.[7]
