• Defeat a Creature in the Dark during each of phase of the encounter with Xavius in The Emerald Nightmare on Normal difficulty or higher.

  • Defeat 3 Creatures in the Dark
  • Defeat Xavius

I Attack the Darkness is an achievement earned by killing a Creature in the Dark during every phase of the Xavius encounter in the Emerald Nightmare instance and then defeating the boss, on Normal difficulty or higher.

Xavius has three separate phases at 100%, 65%, and 30% health. The Creature in the Dark can be found in the darkness which surrounds the room where the encounter takes place. The add cannot be seen, and requires certain abilities such as a demon hunter's [Spectral Sight] to be able to target it.

Once located, the Creature in the Dark should be pulled into the main area of the room, where it can be killed normally. Do this during each of the fight's three phases, then kill Xavius, and the achievement is awarded.

Trivia

• The achievement's name is a reference to the popular Dungeons & Dragons audio skit performed by the 'Dead Alewives' comedy group. A video of the skit can be found here, and contains the infamous line "I'm attacking the darkness!".
