Grand Empress Zek'hara was a ruler of the mantid before Shek'zeer, though how long before is unknown. Obsessed with control and gripped by paranoia, she aspired to stay in power long past her time. She masked her true intentions behind the guise of matronly worry, claiming her overbearing ways were necessary to protect the mantid. To achieve her goal, she was even willing to sacrifice the eternal cycle of her race. When she tried to forbid the swarm, to prevent "a senseless loss of life", the Klaxxi, most notably Hisek the Swarmkeeper, had no choice but to end her.[1]
