When linking to wikipedia, I have seen several ways of doing this: [[Wikipedia:Warcraft|Warcraft]], {{wplink|Warcraft}} and {{wp|Warcraft}}. I've mostly been using wplink myself, but just recently came across wp, which is even shorter textwise. Is there any difference in functionality? Is one way objectively a "better" choice than others? - Not really. {{wp}} is just a redirect to {{wplink}}, which in turn is just a template that calls the [[Wikipedia:]] function. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 11:57, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- Ahh I see. In the past I have changed some templates, from the longer wikipedia link to the shorter wplink, as I thougt it was easier on the eyes, but I wasn't sure if it was actually more effective. I assume the difference is negligible, but if the two shorter both link back to the longer wikipedia link, I think I'll use that from now on. PeterWind (talk) 12:29, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
