Since I switched the JC and LW recipes pages to use the AJAX hidden tables a couple of years back, I always thought they looked a little stark when you first load the page.

I was thinking about adding a token icon to each rank, based on something that is representative of something you create at that level. It adds a little colour, but I wanted some feedback on what you think.

Compare Leatherworking patterns (which is still stark) to Jewelcrafting designs (where I've added some icons).

Is a bit of colour good? Or does it add clutter? :) --W.woods (talk) 06:45, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

I like it. As a side note, quality information on things like professions is one of the best ways to generate buzz and convince lay users (who otherwise might see little difference or practical need to change their viewing habits) that Wowpedia is the Warcraft wiki. At least until someone copies and pastes it to The Other Wiki (I am coining that term if it hasn't been used before). --Bellocois (talk) 06:58, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks :) Yeah, one reason I wanted to make sure the Illustrious recipes were in soon was because it'll attract people. Google still ranks Wowwiki recipe pages higher, but they won't get many for the Illustrious stuff!--W.woods (talk) 02:39, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
The Wikia-hosted version (if there is one) will still have priority as of now, yes. I created Arcane Pinnacle last month and suddenly a copied and very slightly altered version over there outranks it. I doubt much traffic is generated through pure Google searches though. That's more an indicator of what's been happening on forums and blogs, where at least from what I've seen there's usually something saying "WoWWiki Wowpedia" when it comes up. --Bellocois (talk) 04:55, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
