Felo'melorn, also known as Flamestrike isn't a sword like any other. It's the sword of the Sunstrider dynasty, the rulers of Quel'Thalas. Let's explain its history a bit:

The blade was once wielded by Dath'Remar Sunstrider, the founder of the Sunstrider dynasty, even before the War of the Ancients.

During the invasion of Quel'Thalas, Anasterian used it against Arthas, to stop him from reaching the Sunwell, but he was defeated, and the sword was broken.

Later, during the battle of Icecrown Glacier, Kael'thas confronted Arthas with it. He had recovered it and had it reforged, with magic, hatred and a burning need of revenge. He couldn't win either, and teleported himself out.

And this is all we know about the sword. We can suppose that Kael'Thas brought it back to Outland, but it can't be found anywhere.

What do you think? Did Kael'thas abandon it? Did he give it to someone? Or Blizzard is just lazy to mention it in-game?

If it was in Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, I would rule out lazy. Anything can be in anyone's loot table. They have a Legendary mace for healers now, so two swords in a loot table may not overlap (If Arthas got it).--SWM2448 18:16, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
I dunno how Arthas would have it, since Kael'thas kept it when he teleported away in Icecrown. In any case, just because it's not on his loot table doesn't mean he didn't have it with him. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 18:33, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
What if, for example, he gave it to someone else? Let's say, Rommath, who would have brought it to Azeroth. A explanation could be that Kael wanted Lor'Themar to have the ancient blade to cleanse Quel'Thalas from the remaining undead in his name. After he started going insane, I doubt he wanted any sword over Kil'jaeden's gifts.
It's a pity. They should have added it in-game as an epic item, like the Twin Blades of Azzinoth. Vashj, too, should have dropped her mighty highborne bow.
