Forum:Fanfic database
I know we're wanting to be more fansite friendly with making info pages for them and such... but are we really going to go so far as making individual pages for individual characters of fan made cinema in the main space?

- Mage Francis (DWMM & F&B)
- Lucia (DWMM)
- Phil (DWMM)

- Move according to Project:PA. Fan fiction should not be in the main namespace. --Pcj (T •C ) 02:13, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- Even popular/well known fan fiction like Illegal Danish? Would it be assigned to one user who may not have written it?--SWM2448 02:32, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed with Lon-ami, subpage them: Dude where's my Mount?/Wyden
- Event Tales of the Past does not take names in the main space.

- Just a few points. Illegal Danish is not an individual character. I thought Coobra was just pointing out those examples which are individual characters, or ships, that should not be on the main page. Another thing is that those examples all had the "Silly template". It could be that they think the Silly template allows for those examples to be on the main page. I think that Category:Silly should maybe be rewritten to emphasize what not to put on the main page. WoWWiki does have a "Silly template" available so it must be used for something. I also think "they should probably be subpages of one page". Rolandius

- Some fanfic and machinima are part of Blizzard sanctioned contests. Those could stay in the main namespace, if they were presented under Blizzard auspices. Sub-parts of fanfic or machinima don't deserve their own main namespace pages, but subpages seems to work although it may bring out the anti-subpage zealots. --

Went ahead and moved them to subpages of their particular article, now the next question... should the silly template remain on the subpages, all it would do is clutter up the silly category in my opinion.

- I made a {{sillysubpage}} template for subpages. We could make it not add tagged pages to their respective silly categories, if desired. Please use this template for subpages of larger silly pages. --

I think we need a 'Serious' version of the 'Silly' template (With a better name). The Silly template is often used for out-of-WoWWiki jokes and fan works about WoW, but there is nothing exept for {{Fanfic}} for out-of-WoWWiki fan works that are not "silly". Things with the Fanfic template are often pressured to be shoved in a server or user subpage, but as the mess with Tales of the Past shows, it does not always work.--SWM2448 00:15, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
